We had 2 two-bedroom condos here January 2-6, 2008. Each floor has 4 units (2 beach front and 2 gulf view). We stayed in the Gulf View units (rooms 601 and 603) which had nice views of the beach and water. The unit on the south side of the building seemed to get more sun on the balcony than the one on the north side of the building. Both units were very quiet and private feeling even though there were lots of windows in the unit.
The rooms themselves were large and clean though they aren't new and there are some small things that are showing some wear such as the paint on the kitchen faucet and the finish on the bathtub faucet. We stayed at the Bela Sera in Naples last year and that was newer and more upscale though it wasn't on the beach. The pool area was clean and the pool was large. The hot tub was also nice.
The only negative we experienced was with the internet connection which seemed to work on and off. (The office does have extra ethernet cables if you forget yours.)
The Esterra Spa is not on the property but is located about a 10-minute walk away. The Spa is new and very nice. I had a good massage there.
Within walking distance are some restaurants and two 7-11s, CVS drug store, and Santini Plaza which has several restaurants. We got ice cream at the ice cream place there. We also ate at the Fish House which is directly behind Santini Plaza. We were a group of 7 and everyone enjoyed what they ordered at the Fish House.
General Comments about Ft. Myers Beach: I have been to Sanibel and Naples, but never Ft. Myers Beach. When I had read that most of the restaurants/shops are near the north end I was worried Pointe Estero might be too far. When we drove onto the north of the island near Times Square, we were struck by how tacky everything there was...lots of junky souvenir shops, tattoo parlors, etc. The south end of the island around Pointe Estero is much nicer and more upscale. Even my teenage daughter said, "I'm glad we're not staying on the north end."
