“Great Place on the Beach...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

We had stayed on Sanibel Island for a week and stayed here one night before having to go home. It is convenient to Sanibel and the airport. ll rooms face the beach and the views are fantastic. They have a nice pool and area where they have shuffleboard and adirondeck chairs spread around to enjoy the views. There is a friendly parrot who has been on premises for over 25 years named Coco. The service was great all around - they really keep this property up. They have a daily complimentary breakfast - make your own waffles, cold/hot cereals, breakfast sandwiches, boiled eggs, bananas/oranges/grapefruit, juices and coffee which was available 24 hrs. Very nice.

Because all the rooms face the gulf which have a balcony (which is a plus), they are long and can be a bit dark - could use a bit more lighting in the sofa area- we stayed in a mini suit which had 2 kingsize beds plus a pull out sofa and a kitchenette (fridge, 2 burner electric stove, sink and microwave) Rooms are nicely appointed, nice towels and beds are really comfy

Beach towels are provided and there is a vendor on the beach from whom you can rent a pair of lounge chairs w/umbrella ($22/day) - you can charge it to your room. Kind of pricey but have to say it was nice to have this for the day..went out to lunch and came back to our chairs in place.

Although I prefer the quieter nature of Sanibel, would definitely stay here again if I was in Ft Myers Beach...

Room Tip: All rooms have gulf view but I would prefer 2nd floor and up...There is an elevator in this building...

Great location near the pier, shops and restaurants. Great area outside around the hotel to visit and hang out including the pool area. People I talked to seem to come here year after year. We have stayed here 2 or 3 times ourselves over the years and it's consistently clean. The rooms are not the largest but they have everything you need.

Room Tip: There's a little more moving around space in the king size room verses the two double bed room.

The accommodations were wonderful and the location could not have been better. We loved the view of the water from the balcony and the sunset was probably the most spectacular I've ever seen. Staff was courteous and helpful. Thank you for a truly comfortable and memorable stay!

From the time we arrived till the time we left we had a fantastic experience. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, the room was ready & clean, the outdoor pool was warm and not crowded. The Continental breakfast was more than expected. We can't wait to come back.

I have stayed at many different hotels in Fort Meyers Beach. This is by far the "Best of the Best". The rooms are always exceptionally clean, the staff is super friendly & helpful, the location couldn't be better, the amenities are outstanding ( the breakfast, pool, lawn, chairs, & grill), and then there's Cocco. I have confidently, recommended BWBR to both family & friends and have been enthusiastically thanked by all.

The room was immacculate and comfortably furnished. The view was great. Nice view of the grounds, beach, Gulf. The location was close to many interesting restaurants, etc. The hotel is quiet, not a sound. The hotel was full but we never saw another person on the 2nd floor. Ample parking. Very quiet street. Very impressed.

This hotel offered excellent views. We were on the grassed side of the hotel (as opposed to the poolside) with palm trees framing the exquisite sunsets and gulf view. Every room in the hotel is a Gulf front room. Our room was immaculately cleaned. The hotel is located on the quiet end of the island but close enough to the downtown pier area to comfortably walk to shops. The hotel is also quiet. The shower has great water pressure and more than adequate hot water.
The free breakfasts, the kitchens, daily newspaper, Coco the parrot and outdoor grill were nice added amenities. The kitchens are well appointed with everything but a conventional oven. Dishes, silverware and cooking utensils are provided. The beach restoration project is a major success. Even in high tide the beach is well over 120 feet of beautiful white powder sand. As we learned Fort Myers Beach sand is excellent for sand sculpting. The sand is interrupted at the tide lines with lots of shells. The kids and adults should have fun building castles and other creative sculptures.

The few downsides are being added not to detract from the hotel experience but to give realistic expectations of your hotel stay. The breakfast area is small and it can be difficult to find seats. The waffles are nice but don't get crisp within the buzzer time. The Jimmy Dean sandwiches, while being a nice touch get a little damp while sitting in the heater causing the biscuit to get soggy.
The TV does not appear to have HD reception. We were there during the Thanksgiving NCAA basketball season and were disappointed in the ability to closely watch the play.

Again none of this should deter anyone from staying at this excellent hotel. It is very family friendly, is an excellent value and is conveniently located.

Room Tip: For views get a second floor or higher room.
