“Pink Shell Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012

This was my first trip to Ft. Myers Beach Florida. I had no choice of hotels as I was going to a wedding and everyone was staying at the Pink Shell. We had booked a two queen room but they only had a one king room when we checked in. When they realized their mistake, they upgraded us at no cost to a two bedroom suite. This was the size of an apartment. We had a kitchen, dining area, living room, two bedrooms with 3 beds, two baths, a jacuzzi bath tub. Oh wow, this place was fabulous. The gift shop rocks. I love the beach towels and resort wear they sale. The food and drinks were very tropical and good! Fantastic staff and hotel. I loved it. I will definitely stay there again. The beds were so so comfortable, great plasma tv (one in living room and one in each bedroom)

Stayed at Pink Shell for 1 week following a hectic week in Orlando. Great location, fabulous clean beach and powdery sand.
Shame the staff let the hotel down while we were there. Not much enthusiasm, would rather chat to each other while watching the local birdlife feast on the leftover food by the pool. Confusion over bills, being invisible at the bar, and other lacklustre service leads to the average review, although you won't be disappointed by the hotel location, beach and condos.

The free continental breakfast is good but beware being charged $15 for additional kids breakfast (?) seriously, for a slice of toast and a juice it was ridiculous, we complained and got it for $5 a day.

Food at Bongos is great. Plenty to choose from, and childrens meals fresh and healthy choices available.

We stayed in Captiva villas building, fourth floor and had fantastic big balcony with dining table, 4 chairs and 2 extra comfy chairs for eenjoying the view.

The condo is beautifully decorated and well furnished inc dishwasher and huge fridge freezer. Also free use of the laundry (1 on each floor) was great as I did my washing before going home!

Fort Myers beach lacks a little in nice restaurants, so I wouldn't rush back there. We loved Sanibel and Captiva, and recommend a trip there.

Try the Thomas Edison Estate for a day out, and include the river boat tour, saw dolphins, and had great lunch in the yacht club. Loved the museum and houses, some culture after Orlando!

Room Tip: Captiva Villas ask for a high floor Fabulous gulf front views

The Pink Shell was a great. The staff were all wonderful. The breakfast was good. The 4th of July Luau buffet was great. They provided beach towels and chairs on the beach. If you wanted an umbrella you had to rent one for $25 a day. Beach was beautiful and the fireworks were great. You could take the trolley to Times Square where all the beach shops and restaurants are located, but the trolley stops running at 9 pm. If you have children under the age of 12 this is the place for you. They had lots of activities for small children. We spent our days on the beach, because we do not have small children, and we did not care for all the screaming and crying children.

My family just had our third trip to the Pink Shell. Once again, we had a wonderful time. We always reserve a one bedroom suite (Captiva Suite) and we are always very satisfied. This hotel has everything you'd want in a beach side hotel. Believe me, you've got a terrifc hotel if parents and kids are satisfied. There are many things to keep people happy. Dive in movie, pool activities, restaurants and bar by the pool. I've read some complaints about a lack of Room Service, but it really isn't missed. You can get food to go at the two mainrestautants and there is pizza delivery within the hotel. This really is not a big deal, especially when you look at al of the nice things the hotel does offer. Check out the rates of the suites compared to the standard rooms. If there is a nominal difference that won't break the bank, take the larger room. It is worth it.

Room Tip: Compare prices of rooms, get suite if it's not much more than standard room

This is our third trip to Pink Shell and we are already planning our fourth. This resort has everything you need. Large beautiful rooms, great food, on-site water sports, activities for the kids, awesome pools, marina, and the trolley stops right in front of the resort to take you anywhere you want to go on the beachfront. This is the only resort I will stay at on Fort Myers Beach. The breakfast buffet is an added bonus!

OK. So this is our third trip to Pink Shell. Its a super hotel and a great value. Were making this one of our go-to spots for the family. We travel with 3 small children and brought along a cousin. This place is great for families and children. If you are going to Ft Myers, this is the place to stay for many reasons and price is one of them. Here goes: The beach on which the hotel sits is huge (it was recently renourished) and they have beach chairs, umbrellas, and water sports staff right on the beach. We rented a paddle board and a wave runner. The surf was so calm in the morning hours that it was a great time to teach our 3 and 5 year olds how to stand and balance on a paddle board. Tons of sea shells and live sea life: horse conchs, seas stars, small urchins, sand dollars, etc. Great shelling. Kids loved it. Bring water shoes/booties so they dont mind to step on shells. Did I mention that the beachfront is long as well as wide: perfect for long walks and for my 10 mile run (roundtrip). View from oceanside rooms was picturesque to say the least (even on a low floor). The hotel pool, bar and food area is the main event that is rocking and rolling all day long. At night they rolled out an inflatable movie screen for a kids movie (Cars 2) and made popcorn while we are watched from in the pool. Was very nice. They have kids activities during the day and a Kids Club for evening hours (though we didnt use the Club this time). Service staff were friendly and on the ball and your wristband allows you to conveniently enter locked gates and doors and to charge just about anything to your room. The convenience of not needing cash or wallet was nice. Our suite had a full kitchen and washer dryer. well worth it. On a prior trip the hotel even arranged a private dinner for a special occassion directly on the beach. We love this place so much that we have already booked our next quick trip from Miami Beach for January. I highly recommend Pink Shell!

Room Tip: There is an adjacent building right next to the main hotel building that is not as close to the pool...
