“Perfect Honeymoon!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2012

My husband and I went to The Pink Shell Beach Resort & Spa for our honeymoon and loved it! The resort is beautiful and the staff was very friendly and helpful...especially the concierge, Cliff. He took great care of us and gave us a lot of ideas on what to do while we were there. One of the things we scheduled while we were there was the Sunday brunch cruise. Cliff knew we were there for our honeymoon, so he had them surprise us on the cruise with dessert. It was very nice! The cruise was such an amazing time. We saw dolphins, the food was amazing, and the staff was very friendly. It was so relaxing and fun! Our room was beautiful as well. We stayed in the main building at the White Sands Villa. It had a kitchen, washer and dryer, jacuzzi tub, living room, and the most incredible view. As far as the resort itself, it was very clean and well maintained. The pool was really nice and there are plenty of seats to lounge around the pool. They even had a movie night by the pool with free popcorn while we were there. The beach was amazing. The sand is white and really soft. You can rent wave runners, chairs and umbrellas among other things right there on the beach. Prior to our trip, we read mixed reviews about the food, but we thought it was really good! They have a restaurant right by the pool and beach. The hamburgers and nachos were really good as well as the dessert. There is a cool bar right by the pool and beach as well. They gave us comps for a free breakfast each day we were there and we thought the breakfast was really good. The staff is really nice and professional. While you're there to enjoy the beach and pool, there are a bunch of stores just right down the street so we had fun walking to each one at night. There is also two outlet malls nearby we went to a couple times. There is really just a lot to do there and you'll have a great time doing it. We also went to the spa there and it was heaven! We loved The Pink Shell so much we are going back very soon! Ask for Cliff when making arrangements...he is the best!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2012

My husband and I stayed at the Pink Shel Resort in December 2011 the week before Christmas. We usually travel alone and try not to choose family resorts during busy periods so we had no idea what to expect. The resort was not overcrowded and it was absolutely a perfect time for a visit. The beach is so beautiful and very clean, we went doe long walks every day collecting lovely shells along the way. The water was a little cool so we stayed out, but the pool was invitingly warm and very clean.
Our one bedroom suite was georgous and very spacious. Housekeeping was exceptional and we returned every day to a clean room, the kitchen was fully functional and we ate lunch on the outdoor patio every day. We also ate at all 3 of the restaurants and wow were we ever surprised! The breakfast that is included with the room is more than generous, well prepared, presented and very fresh. The service was excellent, the wait staff were very friendly and the restaurant managers Patson and Adele were always coming around to the guests to ask and make sure that they were happy and being taken care of. We had the same experiences at the other 2 restaurants where the food was excellent. The prices were extremely reasonable and we really only ate outside the resort twice for dinner during our week long stay.
This was definitely one of our best Florida vacations and the Pink Shell was absolutely Wow for us and we will definitely be making this an annual stay for us. We have told all our family and friends about the resort. See you again in 2012!!!

Hotel is rated 3 or 3.5 stars which is Probally correct staff was good, friendly and helpfull
In our unit the carpet was showing its wear it's starting to buckle in a couple of spots
They light clean the room every day but it's more like a wipe down the counters vacume and change the towels. My table was left with crumbs for three days
It was cold while we were here and there's not much to do when it's cold.
We used the small workout room but one day it was 53 degrees in there the next day there were no towals available. Lack of attention to detail. They promote a sunset party which was canceled each day we were here do to weather but not notices posted
On a Brit sidewe got breakfast (for two) even though we upgraded to the two bedroom unit. The breakfast was nice, plenty of hot options made to order eggs cereal (little on options here) and fresh cut fruit. Typically we stay in a time share which have all been nicerandhave more activities for the kids but since this was a last minute trip we couldn't find one. For the price of 300 a night we ended up paying (2bedroom) i would have hoped for better. They say call if they don't earn a 9 or10 but do you really want to call for every little thing. We just made the best of it, for the area I believe it's one of the nicer resorts.

Room Tip: If they hotel is not full they will offer you a room upgrade to a one or two bedroom for 75 dollars...

Thank you for posting a review on your recent stay at Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina.
I am glad you found our staff friendly and helpful and enjoyed our highly raved about breakfast at Jack’s.

I am sorry you think that we lack attention to detail; the daily cleaning should be more than just a ‘wipe down’. I will certainly bring this to the attention of the room director division Ted Yeatts. If you would like to discuss this further you may email him directly, tyeatts@pinkshell.com.

I am sorry you visited us during our coldest week of the year. We had no choice but to cancel outdoor events and activities, and posted this in several areas and also sent out a resort voice mail to all guest rooms.

On behalf of everyone at the Pink Shell we hope you will visit us again.

I booked at the Pink Shell to be near friends who were renting a condo next door. It turned out to be one of the best beach vacations I can remember. We have two kids, ages 4 and 8, and the pool was perfect for them. There's a smaller pool that's good for doing laps; I swam in it every morning, sometimes before sunrise, and was completely alone. The white sand beach is amazing, and even during Christmas break was not at all crowded. We didn't bother to rent a car, and ended up eating every breakfast and most other meals at the hotel. The food was surprisingly good. Seared sesame-crusted tuna salad, grilled shrimp salad, shrimp-avocado quesadillas, grouper stuffed with crabmeat - all delicious. Cross the street to the marina, and you can rent fishing poles for $20 as well as get instruction. My daughter caught a sheepshead and a skate. You can also take a 3-hour boat tour with a naturalist to look for dolphins and manatees and learn about the estuary. Walk along the beach 20 minutes to get to the pier, with shops and restaurants and outdoor entertainment. The only other thing I would want in a place this good would be a daily yoga class. If that happens to be your thing, check out the nearby park (Bowditch Point). They have yoga at 10 AM on stand-up paddleboards every Saturday, which I didn't know about till afterwards. Good food and drinks, great pool, awesome beach, and not a bunch of other stuff that I could care less about - overall this was a great vacation. After a few days without a car, it did start to feel almost Caribbean.

Room Tip: Our one-bedroom suite (on the 8th floor of the main hotel) was very clean with comfortable bed, a lo...

Blah stay. Room wasn't that clean. Bad mattresses in the double bed room in the two bedroom suite. Light missing fixture. Service was very slow in restaurant. Breakfast was only available after 7:30 and our sailing course started at 8. With slow service you can imagine how well that went. If it wasn't part of our sailing trip, we would have stayed elsewhere.

Room Tip: Ask if they have newer, updated rooms with new mattresses. Eat elsewhere.

I’m sorry that your stay fell short of our usual high standards of service. It sounds like a number of your concerns could have been handled immediately through our 24-hour Manager on Duty service. We regret that we did not have an opportunity to make it right while you were at our resort. I stayed at the Pink Shell the first week of December. My parents husband and I, and 3 year old son stayed in a 2 bed, 2 bath condo in the main bldg. We were pleasantly pleased - The room was everything we expected. The bedrooms were "cottage" style and a little on the plain side. The master bath was huge, with jetted garden tub, huge walk in shower and vanity area. The kitchen had everything we needed for a 4 night stay. Dishwasher and W/D. Dish detergent was provided although coffee filters and laundry detergent were not. The PS gave us a high chair and crib at no extra charge. The best thing was having the beach literally steps away. I've read that some have had to pay for beach chairs. We did not - only for the umbrella. They will leave it up for you the whole day and you can come and return as you please. It was not crowded when we were there so it was not a problem. It was wonderful being able to sit next to the pool and let my son play while the rest of my family was a few steps away having a drink at the very nice poolside bar. We had most lunches and dinners here. They have another dining room but apparently it was closed for the season. The food was good and reasonable priced. My mom and dad used the spa for facials and massage and they loved it. If you are looking for lots of activities, other than hanging out at the beach, shelling, and using the pool, then the PS might be a little to calm for you. But, our family had a wonderful vacation. My husband and I travel extensively and this was one of our best vacations. We don't look for high end facilities, but we do expect good service, clean and well maintained rooms, and truth in advertising. The PS meet all these expectations. The only negative comment was that the 2-3 front desk clerks that we spoke wiht seemed to know very little about the surrounding community (dining recommendations, directions....etc. One few notes for this time of year. We stayed the first week of December. Our weather was fabulous - high 70s to low 80s. However the day we left, it dropped to the mid-60s...brrr. Also, we had to monitor the red tide every day. The first day, I could feel the effects...scratchy throat, and post nasal drip. We also saw a dozen or so dead fish on the northern strip of the beach during our stay. The PS does a nice job of cleaning the beach each day, but if you are travelling when the red tide is in the area, be careful if you have sensitivities.

Room Tip: we had a 2nd story room right over the pool. I was afriad it would be too noisy with teh pool below...
