“Can't wait to go back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2011

I echo the other reviews about the location, pool, cleanliness, etc. It was excellent.

To give you an idea about the level of service Travis provides, a woman in another room had put beer in what she didn't realize is the community freezer. People put groceries there when they leave in there for all to use. Someone took 6 of them. When she told Travis about it he immidiatley when to the store and replaced them.

Do go to the Lani Kai for the sunset. There is a firedancer on the beach after it goes down.

It is not a 4 start hotel, but that is not what they are striving for. It is old Florida style and they do it very well.

After reading the reviews here on TripAdvisor we did not hesitate to book a 3 night stay at the Dolphin Inn. A we were not disappointed. Arriving late afternoon after a trip through the Everglades. We were greated by the owner Travis. So friendly and he gave us the "Grand" tour of Fort Myers Beach. Told us everything we needed to know about the nearby area.

Our room was small and the aircon was a bit noisy but nothing that could keep us awake at night. The pool was great and the BBQ in the back was great for some home cooking. The beach is just a cross the road and what a fantastic beach. A great sunset.

A short drive away is Sanibel Island where we rented bikes for a day and saw the island. A very nice trip. Also nearby is Miromar Outlets for your shopping needs. At the local Publix nearby is a restaurant called Bayfront Bistro. We enjoyed a very nice seafood dinner with Mussels and locally caught Grouper. Well recommended.

For the Off Season tourist Fort Myers Beach and especially the Dolphinn Inn is well recommended.

We just had our third trip to the Dolphin Inn.
It was even better than our first two trips.

Do NOT hesitate to go to the Dolphin Inn. You will NOT regret it.

Stayed 3 nights. Loved that there were kayaks available for free and bicycles to rent. Across from the beach, just a short walk.
Older hotel, needs some work. Fabulous pool! The owner, Travis was great, but we ran out of toilet paper, and had to go out and get our own.
All in all, great place to stay, good value.

During our recent stay in Clearwater, Florida, Wh hired a car to see a bit more of the State that we missed last time.
We wanted to be around the Ft. Myers / Sanibel Island area and found this gem of a Hotel.

We mainly wanted a base to go exploring from, and this was perfect. We had a great room overlooking the 'Dock of the Bay' at the back, and access to the fantastic wide white sandy beach to the front.

The Dolphin Inn is far enough away from the busy end of Estero Island (Ft. Myers Beach) to be tranquil at night when you need it, and close enough for easy access.
After a busy day of exploring the area, followed by a few hours on the beach in the afternoon, what better to come back to this lovely little hotel to have a cold beer overlooking the bay prior to venturing out for the evening and one of the numerous bars / restaurant's for a great evening and watch the sun go down.

Travis and his crew are great, get you what you want, then leave you alone.

We absolutly loved it and WILL be coming back.

Room Tip: Sunny mornings and cool evenings at the back.

My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our 6th anniversary, it could not have been more special for us. We stayed in a Lagoon view room with a nice BIG screened in Patio which overlooked the lagoon! The room itself we feel was a bargain and also well maintained! It was clean and roomy and had everything we needed. We had breakfast each morning on our patio. The Beach is only across the street (a short walk)! Also the heated Pool was lovely! We noticed it was even bigger pool than the condo high rises had that were located on the beach! Staying here was a truly unique and wonderful experience. Travis the owner goes out of his way to make his guests feel at home! This hotel exceeded our expectations! (we originally reserved a poolside room and Travis called me back up and offered a more private room with a screened in porch) A heartfelt Thank you to Travis and his wife for making our anniversary so special! We really enjoyed the more private room for our stay! I have have a feeling we will be returning in the future!

This was our second visit to the Dolpin Inn, but the first with a toddler. We still enjoyed our stay, but we more aware of the slightly worn state of the buildings and furniture as our toddler is very curious! The owner was very friendly and helpful.

The location is still perfect - on a quiet stretch of Estero Boulevard, backing onto the waterway with the enormous beach across the road. The pool is great - sizable enough for a few quick short lengths in the morning (some hotel pools are tiny) and our toddler had great fun with the foam noodles and inflatables some other guests had left behind.

We has a one-bedroom apartment on the second level which consisted of a bathroom, king bedroom, sitting-room/kitchen (oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, but no dishwasher) and what would have been a porch, now part of the suiten containing a double bed and a single bed, divided by sliding glass 'patio' doors from the sitting area. The furniture was well worn, though the bed was comfortable enough. A travel cot (pack and play) was provided for our toddler.

While clean enough on the surface, something in the bedroom made both me and my husband cough repeatedly. Eventually we decided it was to do with the ceiling fan and cleaned a lot of dust off it (with our handy baby wipes) which seemed to help. The bathroom was clean and the kitchen okay though it was hard to tell as the lighting was bad in that area.

All in all, a good value place if you want a kitchen/kitchenette - we paid $99 per night while chain hotels in the area were charging significantly more than this (more than double in some cases!). It would suit couples and families who want a no-frills beach holiday with the freedom to come and go as they please.
