“Total dump..DO NOT STAY HERE !”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014 via mobile

This place was a terrible experience and we wasted 288 $.
We went to Florida and it was spring break . Had trouble finding a room and passed this place and decided to try to see if there was vacancy . There was so we Walked in to book a room for 2 nights and we wanted a heated pool to relax in. There were solar panels on the roof and so decided to put on our swimsuits and swim ... I put my foot in the pool and I nearly got frostbite . It must have been. 40 degrees! We were there 1 hour ( at 11:35 am , 3 hours before normal check in time) went back to our moldy room and went to ask manager why the pool was freezing cold and she apologized and said the solar panels needed repair. So we asked for our money back and she said the owner would have to ok that . We waited for a call back and never received one ! So we stayed on hour and paid $288. Makes me sick in America that an owner can reap in the money and never even be concerned that people have a legitament claim with no recourse but to just eat it ! DONT STAY AT THE GULF MOTEL in Fort Myers Fl !!

This motel is more like efficiency apartments. My bed was so comfy and the room was spotless clean with a strong scent of bleach. There is no phone, no ice machine and no free packs of coffee for the in room coffee makers. The store is walking distance away to buy your ice and coffee. The management has you take out your trash and strip your bed and place all linens by the door before you leave. The pool is nice and the pier.is a one mile walk down the beach. It is not beach front. .. The motel should probably invest a little more money into their rooms. But yes I would stay here in room #3 again.

My husband and I stayed here Valentine's weekend and we brought our two dogs with us. We had a really nice stay. The rooms were very clean and the dogs were very welcome. They were even allowed to sit with us at the pool bar while we enjoyed cocktails with Michelle and Tom, the managers. The first night that we were there we grilled hamburgers and realized that we had forgotten ketchup. Tom was very sweet and gave us a container. If you want a five star hotel, don't stay here. If you want a nice, clean place to stay that is right on the beach where you can meet nice, friendly people, this is the place for you.

This review was done on 8-9-2013 thru 8-11-2013...... Ok so we wanted a vacation right, But had animals (Dog) that we also wanted to bring along as well. It was also my sons 12th Birthday and we decided to incorporate them all together as one and mind you we have not had a vacation in about 8 yrs and with myself owning a radio station as well as television station it was long over due. When we left Spring Hill, Florida to go to Ft.Myers Beach we had forgot our list of hotels who had taken dogs and a few other things as well. But decided we would stop at a few on Estero Blvd and see who we could find that would take our dog. We found Gulf Motel which turned out to be the only one there that was not full or did not take animals. First off room rates were at $95.00 dollars a night in the off season ( Not Good) then $10.00 a night for the dog. (Acceptable) But then after we checked in it was a nightmare to say the least. We got placed in a moldy room with an air conditioner that did not work and woke up to temps in the high 90's INSIDE OF THE ROOM. The rooms are very outdated with MOLDY Bathrooms, lights that did not work, Showers that were peeling and moldy, Beds so out of date that even my 12 yr old could not sleep on. We arrived kind of late at about 5pm or so and figured we would go to dinner and let our room cool down some. By 10 pm nothing had happened and we could not get a hold of the mgrs that evening. Next morning we called and they had the nerve to tell us and this is a quote. " OH YEAH THAT AC DOES NOT WORK WELL" My 1st question was "Why did you place us in that room then" as we had a son and an animal and not to mention the 95 degree days outside". They said to us well we can place you in a different room if you do not mind moving, (After we were totally unpacked) So we packed up to go to a different room and low and behold it was an upgrade to a much nicer PIECE OF GARBAGE AS WELL!! Once again the lady had said AC Worked great, Low and behold it did not, We used cold towels, tried turning on ceiling fans and more and nothing helped it just remained hot inside of this new room as well. Inside of this new room the shower floor was Moldy, has peeling walls, a shower head that had to be held in order to wash your face and a toilet that kept running even after you wiggled the handle to try to shut it off.. This hotel in my opinion needs to be inspected and maybe even shut down. It needs a major overhaul to bring it to standards and needs cleaners. What hotel do you stay at that makes you clean your own rooms,, Has stinky furniture, Showers that did not drain properly, and the beds were something from 1900's .
THIS HOTEL IS A NO NO, STAY AWAY AND DO NOT SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON THIS PLACE. TAKE IT FROM ME AND I OWN A RADIO STATION WE WILL BE GOING PUBLIC WITH THIS AS TO WARN EVERYBODY NOT TO LOOSE WHAT THEY WENT TO FT. MYERS BEACH TO GAIN..... SANITYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.

I just had a recent stay at the Gulf Motel...I all respect to those that raived about this place.... where did u stay......The office or managers were not to be found.,Yes very noisy right on the road..The rooms were older than the hills. stanky furniture, you can smell the mold.. a shower bath that didnt drain too well. A tiny toilet that sits in front of a sink your lucky if u can sit...Just freakin nasty...saying the location is great means nothing every place on the island is a great location..THe ccloset was broken,, and major rust under the piping of the toilet...THen this was [--] amazing rules on check out..They have rules regarding taking out the garbage.or you get charged. remove all bedding and towels to be stacked on the floor......Theyre out of their minds... how rude .. the charge

Horrendous experience, Booked from information on their web site, place was horrible, dirty, noisey, poor air conditioner, out dated bedding and furniture. Looked like any decent wind would blow the siding off the place. Staff was non attentive. Did have entertainment watching spring breakers jumping off second floor balcony into the small pool. The only positive aspect was this dump was less than a block away from the beach downside to location is the rooms were right along the major road that had bumper to bumper traffic, loud motor cycle’s music from cars.

Never again! The place is run down and almost everything has to be reparerad in some way! No cleaning no service at all. The pricing was as a luxurie hotel but that was only luxurie thing! I think they have close this place and do something else!
Close to beach, thats all!
