“2 Days on the Beach”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2014

We were spending a week in Cape Coral & decided to spend a couple of nights on the beach. Looked at the reviews & prices & chose the Lani Kai. Our stay was fine, I would not say that the hotel was lovely or really nice, but it was fine. I checked the room over when we checked in & it was clean. They are renovating, but our room was not done yet so it was the old floors & furniture, but still clean & good enough. The view is fantastic, the roof top bar is lovely & the breakfast up there was great! The pool was refreshing & the staff were very nice & accommidating. We had an air condditioner problem when we checked in & they fixed it right away. Not sure I would stay here during sring break, but our stay was perfectly fine & We would stay here again. Location & views from the rooms are fantastic. Can't beat the price!!!

The initial reaction will not be good. We had to park across the street, but didn't move the car for 2 days anyway. The ground floor is designed for high volume, Spring Break business and it's taken a beating over the years. All the open air halls face the street, elevators were slow, but the room makes this place worth it. Our room must have been one of the recent remodels because it had no issues: Large enough, decent bathroom, desk, couch & chairs plus the balcony facing the ocean. Promptly cleaned everyday to satisfaction. The weekend entertainment schedule continues Noon until 2am, pretty loud, and a crowd later you would expect at a party bar. Sunday was Funday. Dozens of boats anchor off the beautiful beach and everyone was enjoying the live Reggae band. Free use of beach towels, volleyballs, etc at the front desk & the inground pool was nice & clean. Two restaurants on the rooftop: Open air with gliders had $8-$20 entrees. Enclosed was more upscale $15-$35 entrees. Great deal inside with the BOGO coupon included with the welcome package. For $23 your choice of 3 fishes prepared 5 different ways. Get the Grouper with soy/ginger. Overall please remember THIS IS A PARTY HOTEL. We came for beach activity, pool, bars, bands, seafood and drinking. If that's why you're going to Fort Myers Beach, this is ground zero. A fun vacation at a reasonable price can be had here, just don't expect an upscale place.

Room Tip: Avoid the noise: Get on floor 4 or 5 with a low room number to the South side

Cathie Longworth reviewed Lani Kai Island Resort

20 mins ·

★☆☆☆☆ Horrible customer service from a 'Manager' just now. Came back to our room after a long day of travel, to find our door WIDE OPEN (with ALL of our belongings inside) and a few Comcast Cable installation crew in our room. Bathroom ceiling ripped apart and nothing but attitude from the man claiming to be a 'manager'. REFUSED to comp the room for the day. (His offer was to take $30 off our bill) If we would have been here all day, our room would not have been accessible to my family and I. We couldn't change our clothes, use the bathroom or go to sleep as planned, after our long morning and afternoon. HUGE INCONVENIENCE.
My family now feels unsafe being here. Not to mention after speaking to this "manager" I, also, no longer feel welcomed and safe! He started to scream at me and kept repeating himself over and over that he CAN NOT ever comp a room. Being a well seasoned traveler and in the business, I know better. All I asked for was this 1 day out of the entire stay here to be comped for our extreme inconvenience.
Book elsewhere, and read the reviews, I read them but ALWAYS give a place the benefit of the doubt. I definitely won't be recommending this "resort" to anyone. It is loud all day and night until after 2:00am.
The best part is the rooftop restaurants.(Good food and very reasonably priced!) The manager should take customer service lessons from all the staff up there.
I believe that customer service is to be something a business should be proud of. No matter what, make the customer satisfied, don't argue with the paying consumer.
Besides the so called manager, the rest of the staff has been welcoming and fun.

We booked here after reading some not so great reviews but decided we wanted the location and the extra amenities. The glider lounge on the roof was great. The food was very reasonable and good. The customer service was great, ask for Nick. He was very knowledge about the area and super friendly. We also ate at the island view restaurant while there and that was spectacular. The food was great and the prices were still reasonable for the service and view we got. All in all the hotel was way better than we were expecting and we would book there again.

Clean spacious rooms with balcony with a great view!! Great bars and best awesome happy hour with amazing specials!! Great service throughout the hotel!! Centrally located. Only thing I didn't like was that we couldn't bring a cooler to the beach but other than that we had a great time and are ready to go back !!

Our first time staying at this hotel, but certainly not our last. Friendly staff, clean room, beautiful beach. Walking distance to pier, shops, restaurants, bars. Not a 5 star luxury hotel, but a million dollar view from your balcony. Can't wait to go back again.

Room Tip: you can't possibly get a bad room here, all the rooms face the ocean and have great balconies to...

My husband and I stayed at Lani Kai over the weekend for our wedding anniversary. The hotel is dated & the rooms are run down. You will be assessed a $50 credit card fee upon check-in for any room charges you may incur, however, it is refunded within 3 business days. It is in a great location right on the beach, near the pier, shops, and bars. There are two restaurants on the top floor, one indoor and one outdoor. The indoor, Island View, is more up-scale dining. The food was good and upon check-in they gave us a coupon for a free entrée with purchase of an entrée. The outdoor, Sundeck, has a bar and glider seats overlooking the Gulf; very pretty at sunset! The servers were very nice. There is non-stop entertainment on the weekends. There are three bars down stairs, a stage, a DJ and a band at times. They were having hula competitions, water balloon toss, limbo, etc. throughout the day. At night, there was a fire juggler, a band, and the bar area turned into more of a night club with people coming in that weren't even staying at the hotel. The drinks are over priced and you are not allowed to bring your own coolers to the beach. Security polices the beach all day walking back and forth to check for outside drinks and food. They do have happy hour, but it is only on the Sundeck. Overall, we had a good stay, but renovations would make the hotel a lot better.

Room Tip: Our room was on the second floor, ocean view, and right above the stage and bar area. If you are loo...
