“a very good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2007

We had business in Fort Myers and needed to spend the night. Since our anniversary was close by we decided to splurge a little and stay at a nice hotel. We were able to get a Florida resident rate at around $170. I booked the lower floors for this rate, but having read trip advisor's reviews I knew what to ask for. I requested a room with a jacuzzi and/or a view if possible. Some of those rooms have Jacuzzi's and some have views. We got there at the beginning of check in time, it was an off weekend and the weather had been kind of stormy earlier in the day, so they I guess they had extra rooms. They were nice enough to upgrade us for free. We got a large higher level room with a jacuzzi and two sides with a MAGNIFICENT view of both the bay side and the south side (from which we could see the Gulf also). I'm not exxagerating that I gasped when I got into our room and saw the view. The room is a little older than other nice hotels I've stayed at recenlty, but well within a pleasant standard. It was also very large. We had a full kitchen about 14x14 feet in size, a living room/dining area (with the magnificent view), a balcony, al good sized bedroom and a very spacious bathroom (about 14 x 20') with a roman tub/jacuzzi and a separate shower and separate water closet.

We got to see the sunset from our room and enjoyed the jacuzzi in the evening. The next morning we wanted to go to Lover's Key State park to Kayak and I inquired about late check out. They have no free late check out, but for $33 we were able to stay until 5pm. That's the best deal I've ever found from a hotel. It afforded us an entire extra day of vacation.

This is a great destination and they will definitely see us again.

Pure Bliss! I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 night stay at Lover's Key Resort. I found the property to very well maintained/clean and the staff was wonderful. I will definitely stay at the property again, the dolphins really do play at Lover's Key. High Recommended for a romantic getaway to refresh an old relationship or build a solid romantic foundation for a with a new love.

Thanks
Zenobia

my husband and I just got back from a 5 night stay at Lovers Key Beach Club and Resort....we stayed in the Penthouse Suite and was well worth it, the view from here is breathtaking....it was almost like havng an aerial view of Estero Bay....the suite was very clean and everything was in working order...
Flippers makes great drinks and they don't skimp on the alcohol..the pool is somewhat small but clean....
We saw tons of dolphin frolicking in the bay as well as several manatees, even a mom with her baby!! we saw countless species of birds.....
The biggest disappointment at the hotel was that they do not have bellmen to handle your luggage, this is a huge pet peeve of ours...this is the first hotel we have ever stayed at that did not provide this service....they need to get their act together

There are great places to eat in the area, Tropical Cuban Grill on Estero Blvd makes great Cuban sandwiches, Charlie's Boat House Grill has tender and juicy steaks and prime rib, Fish Monger has great seafood, Pinchers Crabshack is great for shellfish and drinks
We did backcounrty fishing at Lovers Key S.P. on a pontoon boat,
do not miss out on going to the beach there, 2.5 miles of white sand beach with great shelling opportunities, a tram will take you to the south end of the beach where there are bathrooms and a place to buy burgers, hot dogs, etc, you can also rent beach chairs and umbrellas
We also drove to Sanibel Island and drove through J.N. Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge and saw tons of wildlife
We also took 41 south, about 1.5hr drive , to the Everglades and did an airboat tour of the 10,000 islands, this was great, we even saw an alligator!
We will surely come back to this area and stay at the hotel again!!

Just got back yesterday from another great weekend stay at Lovers Key Resort. We ended up on the fifth floor, overlooking the pool which was a wonderful view. Higher is always better, but this was pretty great.

First, the front desk took care of a special request to have flowers waiting for my wife in the room. A nice suprise for her. They were bought through Beach Buds Florist. It was pricey...but worth it.

The room was very clean and everything was working fine, as we've come to expect. We skipped Flippers (not bad when we've eaten there before but there are better restaurants in the area) and headed to the pier. No traffic to speak of this time of year. If you can manage a trip in the offseason...do it.

Saturday we spent all day by the pool. We took our own drinks/alcohol which saved some money. We even remembered the blender this time! (The suites do have stove, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, refrigerator.) The breakfast was a little disappointing as the waffle makers seem to not be working correctly. It might be time for some new ones. But, the coffee was great.

On our balcony we saw tons of dolphins, a couple of manatees, stingrays, pelicans and other birds. We even caught glimpse of a dolphin jumping completely out of the water, Sea World style. The hotel was very busy and they seem to be doing a lot of weddings. Lots of kids at the pool.

As a sidenote, we drove to Sanibel and had dinner at the Sanibel Island Steakhouse. I highly recommend this place as they have wonderful steaks. (Dinner for two with a couple of glasses of wine each was $100+...but worth it!)

We have now stayed at Lovers Key Beach Resort at least five or six times. I have yet to be disappointed with the accommodations or the staff. I understand you can now rent boats through the Resort. I didn't get all of the details but might try it next time. It must be popular as the boats were all rented both days we were there.

My only regret? I wish we would have bought a unit pre-construction!

What a great hotel! Perfect location, well-kept and attended to, excellent breakfast included. Close enough/far enough from all the activities in Fort Myers Beach. Hotel staff is diligent and friendly. Stay here for an outstanding vacation. 2 minutes from Lovers Key State Park with one of the best beaches that you'll ever see!

This is a very recommandable place to stay!
The place is situated in a nice, quiet area. The hotel is pretty new and offers rooms with a lot of space. Our room was actually some kind of apartment with a seperate living area, huge balcony, whirl pool and a kitchenette. Though you pay around 250-300 $ during winter season, the money is worth the price. The rooms are very quite, you got lot of privacy and the staff is very nice and so helpful.

We probably come back one day!

This place was great! I had seen this hotel on the Travel channel, and I knew I had to stay there on our next Florida trip. The thing I remember best about Lovers Key is the wonderful smell that hits your nose as soon as you walk through the door. It's some kind of tropical fragrance that permeates the entire hotel. The pool was exactly like on TV. They even give you these huge fluffy pool towels to use. The view from our room was great, we could see manatees swimming in the bay. The room was huge and all of the furnishings looked new. The bathroom was the best thing in our room. It was spotless, and it had a huge whirlpool tub, separate shower, the toilet was in a separate room. I think we paid about $175 a night, and it was worth every dollar. I highly recommend it!

  • Liked — Everything! We felt like millionares when we stayed here.
  • Disliked — Not as close to Lover's Key Beach as they made it seem on TV, it's down the road a little bit.
