“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

My husband and I just returned from this resort. We went there to celebrate our 29th anniversary. This resort is faboulous. I must admit that I was a little skeptical from some of the rviews that have been posted on this site. All I can say is that I don't know where those people were staying at but this resort is fantatic. The staff are so friendly, the view is extraordinary. We were in room 905 could not have asked for a better unit. Extremely clean and nicely decorated and I cannot save enough abut the view. Our rate included daily breakfast at Flippers. The potatoes are awesome! If you are a Florida resident take advantage of the special rates they currenlty have. You will not be disappointed. We had such a fantastic time, we hated to leave, but we are already lanning on when we can return.

I will definitely recommend this resort to all of my clients. It is a fantastic resort.

Room Tip: Make sure you book a room on the 5th floor or higher for the best view.

Very good service. Large clean suite with a full kitchen. Complimentary sit down breakfast at on site Flippers restaurant was very good loved the potatoes. I would have given a review of all 5's if it were not for the view. The resort was no where near full, but we received a 2nd floor unit with a lovely view of the parking lot to the right and the boat dock straight ahead. We could still look out at the bay, but a better view would have been appreciated. At check out time I was told I got that room because I purchased and received a good rate through Living Social.

Dear Janie 624,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and for staying at Lovers Key Resort. We're glad you were able to join us on the Living Social offer and apologize that a higher floor wasn't made available to you during your stay. We should have explained upon your arrival that the top floors may be available with the special offer at a slightly higher rate. (This is also how our room categories are arranged and sold on our website.) We hope you'll come back to visit and will be able to enjoy the view from a higher floor.
I'll also share your comments about the breakfast with the Chef. He loves to hear positive comments about his food!
Thanks again,
Jeff Bullock

We just spent the most awesome weekend at Lovers Key Resort... This place is truly amazing! The location is beautiful, the rooms are spectacular, and the service is five star! Every staff member, from housekeeping to front desk, greeted you with a smile and wanted to make sure your stay was as comfortable as could be. After we parked the car, we never left until check-out, thanks to Flippers on the Bay. The restaurant is situated on the bay, next to the pool. It is an amazing place to eat, relax and have a few cocktails. The food was great and the service couldn’t get any better, as we watched the staff work together to take care of a huge breakfast & lunch crowd, quickly followed by a busy dinner hour. The restaurant manager was a pleasure to meet, as he traveled to each table guaranteeing every patron was satisfied with the food & service and getting to know his customers. We will definitely return in the near future, looking forward to staying in paradise once again!

Room Tip: Room 1105 ROCKED - its a corner unit, full bay view, as well as the Gulf. Best of all, an unobstruct...

We had a great time here. My husband suprised me with a massage and she came right to our room.
Ellie Sandler is a great therapist and a great asset to Lovers Key.
Flippers had great service and even better food.
You can't ask for a better view of the water.

First of all - I would like to thank BRIAN at the Lovers Key Resort - He is the most incredible, wonderful front desk person, my husband and I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.

For our 8th Wedding Anniversary we planned a trip on the motorcycle around the east coast of Florida, down to the Keys and back up the west coast - and after making our way to the lighthouse motel in fort myers, (saw a coupon in a book and headed there) after a thunderstorm on the bike through alligator alley (everglades) on the motorcycle (which was pretty scarey! btw) We arrived at the lighthouse motel in fort myers and were left to feel like joseph and mary! we spoke to the owner's husband, as he told us, and because they only had 3 rooms left and certainly didnt want to give it to us unless we would commit to at least 2 days on a Sunday and Monday, as the owner explained to us his wife would kill him if he rented one to us, instead of waiting for a better deal (kinda sucks when you have travelled from the keys and are so ready to find a room and a thunderstorm is heading our way) - we were kind of stuck - so we headed onwards and were lucky enough to find a restaurant on the ocean - a fabulous restaurant called Doc's on the beach, that we ended up having a couple of sandwiches at and they allowed us to put on the laptop and power up so we could find somewhere else to stay - on trip advisor of course - we saw good reviews for Lovers Keys - and we felt we could make it there - no matter how tired we were - my biggest worry was that perhaps we wouldn't look like the 'right clientel' for this hotel - how wrong i was - BRIAN at the front desk was professional and curteous and treated us as though we just walked into his hotel with tuxedo's on! (we weren't - we were weather worn and tired after being through a rain storm, on a motorcycle - so not looking our best!) - he not only gave us a good rate - he put us up on the 12th floor to enjoy the view of the sunset, one of the best places in the hotel - he took such wonderful care of us! i was able to enjoy the whirlpool bath, see a beautiful sunset, relax on the couch and watch some tv and enjoy a fabulous bed with comfort we had not enjoyed on our trip so far ....for breakfast - we had complementary vouchers at Flippers - the hotel restaurant - so we watched dolphins swimming first thing in the morning before the rest of our trip - it truley was manificent - and made my trip ! We also recieved a lovely thank you letter from the resort for staying with them in my email box the next day - ....thank you to Brian for your abilty, not to judge us by walking in as 'bikers' and turning us away and allowing us the opportunity to experiance a wonderful stay at your hotel - i work at a Ritz Carlton and now - i tell everyone of our guests heading that way to Estero, Fort Myers about YOUR wonderful hotel too! KUDO'S BRIAN! thanks so much! We may even come back ourselves one day! It's that Good!

Room Tip: You will be VERY HAPPY you picked this hotel ! Say hello to Brian from me!

The hotel is very nice. No complaints on that part as we were upgraded to a penthouse room. I guess the higher up you are, the better the view as far as sunsets. But we were never in our room during sunset, so that really didn't matter much to us. Very spacious accomodations. We had a stove, full size fridge, cooking utensils, dishwasher and kitchen sink. The balcony was awesome. Very big. We had a sliding door to the balcony off the living room area and another one off the bedroom. The bed was very very comfortable. Nice spa bathtub. For the most part, the room was spotless (although they needed to dust off the fake flowers on the kitchen table as they were covered in very thick dust). Other than that, it was beautiful. We purchased the romance package and it came with chilled wine or champaign. We don't drink champaign. They were limited on wines. I drink Moscato which they didn't have. So the bottle was left in the fridge unopened. Not everyone drinks the same kind of wine. So need to have better choices for people. I would have truly enjoyed a glass of Moscato on the balcony. The reason I didn't rate this a "5" is because of those things. Plus the restaurant downstairs had horrible wait times. You get a voucher for a free breakfast but the wait time was 45 minutes to an hour. The only tme we didn't wait, was when we got down there right when they opened. Otherwise, forget it. Same way with supper. The food was great and the atmosphere was wonderful as it is a covered outdoor deck sitting beachside where you can watch dolphins playing while you eat. But it's not big enough to accomodate all of their guests. And they accomodate boaters too. They need to add on. The other thing is the beach really isn't big enough for swimming / laying out. When the tide is up, there is barely a beach. Go across the highway and swim at the public beach where you pay $2.00 to swim. The really cool thing though about the little beach at the hotel though.....in the evening you can walk it because the tide is out. All kinds of neat sea animals are left for viewing. Lots of starfish. Lots of Pelicans and long legged birds awaiting their supper as they sit on sandbars waiting patiently to dive bomb a fish. Dolphins are plentiful which was totally awesome. The pool is very nice. It has a waterfall and is pretty good size. There is also a hot tub in the pool area. Staff was very nice! I would go back. But there are a few things they could do to bring my rating up to a "5".
