“very disappointing handling of our family...!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2011

We are a family from switzerland with two small children and were on vacation in Florida. At about 7.30 pm I called the restaurant manager, and asked him, if they have four seats left for us. I told him, that we will be there at least 8 PM. The manager told us, we may have to wait 15 minutes.
So we arrived there at 8 PM and wanted to check in. He told us "to wait a moment". He let us - family with two kinds (4, 10) - waiting almost one hour! I complainend, because he let in at least 10-15 people before us. We were really disappointed about the way they treated us. Really unfriendly against family with childern! The food was okay.

“Very Nice, we'll come again.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2011

I had the sushi and it was so fresh, we sat outside and enjoyed the back bay, I wish I was there right now. My wife had roasted chicken, I had a bite and it was excellent. Our bill was high with drinks included, but worth it!

“Misleading”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2011

Decided to give the Bayfront Bistro a try after reviewing their website and saw that they had happy hour (two for one) everyday from 10AM to 6PM. After we sat down for lunch we were informed that happy hour was only at the bar. How stupid, most people retaliated by just ordering water and tea. When we got back home I double checked the website, it made no distinction on happy hour. Anyway, my wife had the crispy fish taco's and she thought they were very good. I ordered the shrimp wrap. The shrimp wrap was chintzy, it was basically all lettuce. I'd be surprised if there was 1/2 of one shrimp chopped up in it. The view of the backwater was very nice. If you decide to go, make sure you play their game. Go to the bar, order a couple of drinks (two for one) and then take them to the table for lunch. Ask lots of questions about your food order. I rate this place average and so must everyone else because there was no one there.

“Sushi is Great, Service is Terrible!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2011

We ate at the Bayfront Bistro twice during our short stay recently on Fort Myers Beach, once at the downstairs sushi bar, and once at the main restaurant upstairs.
The sushi proved to be fantastic! We've eaten at many high end sushi places over the years and you could definitely tell that the chef here was experienced, as well as very creative in menu options. The ingredients were all very fresh and flavorful, food was served relatively quickly, and most importantly, it was all yummy! Our good experience with the sushi at this place was our main reason for coming back to eat at the main restaurant....
And boy, were we disappointed! The main restaurant's fare was nothing more than average. We were quite underwhelmed with just about every dish. Our main complaints were that the food was lacking in much flavor and fairly pedestrian at best. However, the worst experience of the evening was the service! The waitstaff at this place seems to have a tendency to be on the rude side. Our waiter never asked us how our meal was, never came back to fill our glasses, and pretty much left us for a majority of the night. And the restaurant wasn't even full! For a place that's trying to be more on the fine dining side of things, the experience in the main restaurant was definitely not worth the time.
Conclusion... sushi is phenomenal, location was decent, main restaurant and service is sub par.
