“Great hotel right on the beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2012

Friendly reception staff (great parrot!), clean hotel and within easy walking distance of bars and restaurants. Our room was large and very clean and the balcony looks right over the beach - great views. The pool was great and there's plenty of free parking. We didn't have breakfast although it was really busy so assume the food is fine. We'd definitely stay here again if we come back to Fort Myers.

Room Tip: All rooms face the beach and ocean so if you want the best view, choose a higher floor.

I stayed there with my husband, we really liked this place, near of many places, rooms are confortable, but the bathrooms are really small, fresh, clean and very good attention.
the personnel in the reception were very helpull and nice people +A for them.
the breadfast area is nice, and complete.
We really liked this hotel and also have great price.

We were visiting family in Ft. Myers so truly were just using this hotel as a place to sleep. Didn't have the free breakfast or use the pool.
When we checked into our room the fan was so loud on the heating/cooling unit in the room we knew we would never be able sleep. We called down to the front desk and they just immediately said "ok"and gave us a new room number. It was almost like they knew the room had a noisy fan so they just gave us another room. It was nice and great that it was not a hassle but because it was so smooth it almost made me wonder why they put us in that room in the first place because it seemed like they knew the fan was bad. But our new room was fine - even seemed a little bit bigger.

All in all it was fine since we were literally only there to sleep. Some other reviews mentioned that the rooms smelled musty and they did a litlte bit. I think it's just because it's an older Florida hotel so it has a musty smell from the humidity.

We went to this hotel and the first room had a non functionin toilet- so we went to another room- we opened the window in the room - and never could get over the smell in the room- couldnt manae to stay there as thought we may get sick from what must have been mold or mildew somewhere in the room- didnt stay long enough to figure the cause- unbelievable - they were very nice and let us out of our reservation, although the room was a smoking room- that was not the smell at all- maybe they could get the carpet clean and purchase air purifiers for the rooms if they want to save the hotel, it looks like they are really trying to keep up and make it nice, as the exterior and lobby look great!

Was there for 2 nights in March (for business). Hotel was OK - but just barely. I was forced to stay there due to increased travelers for Spring Baseball as well as Spring Break that jacked up room rates in most of the Ft Myers area to over my corp per night limit. I usually pick my own places to stay but with the above mentioned space constraints and resultant high prices, I had to rely on corp travel to book this room. If I stay there again - well that's not going to happen - I'll find another place if I have to drive another 30 miles out of my way.
Check in and Check out - Check in was slow - I waited more than 5 minutes before anyone showed at the front desk (at 6pm by the way - not exactly in the wee hours of the night). Check out required another trip to the front desk - can't remember the last time I had to do that - thankfully it went pretty quick (probably the highlight of my stay)
While the room are pretty spacious, in general the facility is dated - ie CRT TVs and old furniture. Wireless Internet was a joke - could not get on line once - the log in screen stated that the number of users was at the limit and to try again later - got that screen even at 1am. Rear door marked 'must use your room key to enter' would not close so security was how shall I say - not good. Breakfast was a step (or two) below Hampton or Fairfield.
Won't stay here again - not worth the $. MAYBE for about 80 bucks a night but not the over 125 I was forced to pay

Room Tip: Avoid front (SE facing) rooms. If you can get on the internet - do not log off - you may never get b...

About what you'd expect from a Best Western. Which was kind of tough in this case, because we'd spent the previous few nights at a Disney resort. It's comparing apples to oranges, of course, but it was hard not to contrast the two.

There were a couple of service issues at this location that didn't sit well. First was a note on the check-in counter that stated the hotel's water would be shut down at 1 p.m. the following day "until further notice." When I asked what that meant, the clerk said there was some piece of equipment that needed to be fixed, but she wasn't sure how long it would take, and that we'd have to talk with the manager the next day to get more information. If the property plans a major inconvenience, such as shutting down the water supply, all employees should be versed in exactly why it's happening and at least a rough estimate of how long it will take to be back up and running. However long it took, when we first used the shower upon returning to the room, the water had to run for awhile before the sediment and brownish color disappeared.

The second minor issue is we'd included a few room requests on our reservation and the clerk clearly didn't look at them. Once she'd found my name and the kind of bed on our reservation, she got on a walkie-talkie and asked only which available rooms had king beds. So, despite asking for a room away from stairs/elevators/common areas, we were sent to one adjacent to a exit stairwell and across the hall from the laundry. Again, not a huge thing, but it'd have been nice if she'd at least made the effort to see what was available that met our online request(s). In general, we found the service to be indifferent and the employees didn't appear very interested in being there.

OK, with all that out of the way. The location worked out well. If you like to jog, there are paved trails not far in either direction. Plenty of dining options within easy walking or driving distance.

The room was typically appointed for a BW. Free wireless internet. (Far spottier than the wi-fi we used at other properties during this trip. In fact, we eventually used our cell phone as a hotspot, rather than relying on the wi-fi.) There are also two computers in the lobby, though one was out of order during our stay.

Breakfast buffet was pretty meager, even by BW standards. Couple of apples, no other fresh fruit. Then the usual waffle maker, a few bags of oatmeal, etc.

In general, I'd suggest reading all reviews carefully, because many of them refer to a different Best Western, one that's on the beach. This is an okay property, but I think its overall rating is a lot higher than it should be, as it includes several reviews from the beach property.

this is a very nice hotel. stayed a week. staff takes great care of you. loved our room with micro/frig. a window that opens. comfortable beds but not new. a little soft. the toilet power flushes! :) shower has good water pressure. breakfast area is very busy because this hotel sells out every night. but there is a super sweet lady that hustles to keep gravy, biscuits, eggs, waffle batter, fruit, pastries, yogurt, bagels, toast, coffee and juice supplied throughout the breakfast hours. coffee was available pretty much 24/7
the hotel is convenient. just down the road from the mall and the v.a. hospital. right beside dairy queen(10% off with room card) and a fabulous restaurant, Miller's Ale House, is on the other side and open late. (pasta, steak, sandwiches, even lobster with weekday specials and very fair rates) you will see and hear small airplanes but they never bothered us. the pool is also very nice. i enjoyed my breakfast poolside some mornings. there's also two computers in the lobby and they have free wifi. plus 2 washers and two dryers that work just fine. rocking chairs are at the entrance to rock and relax :)
