“Lick Your Plate Clean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

Some of the best food in Fort Myers.

We drove by signs for a "Tapas and Wine Bar" several times before finally pulling in to try it after MadFreshTakeOut was closed. It's in a depressing stip mall - which seems to be a theme of good dining in SWFL - so do not let appearances fool you.

From the tapas menu we had:

Gorgonzola stuffed plums, wrapped in Proscuitto - This is a must order. We ended up ordering another round of these because they were so delicious. Such a rich balance of taste and textures.

Short ribs - incredibly tender and juicy

Green beans - these were battered and fried - a very good side, but would have benefitted from a sauce/glaze on their own

Baked Goat Cheese - covered in red pepper sauce, delicious

From that point on, all the entrees were just as delicious. My wife raved about the Truffles Cheese Sacchetti (handmade pasta filled with truffles, ricotta, & mozzarella).

For desert, we had the delicious homemade Tiramisu (very nice notes of brandy). They also offer cannolis, flan, cheesecake, and panna cotta.

The food is so good I was shocked. I kept wondering through dinner what this amazing restaurant was doing in a beleaguered strip mall in an area full of disappointing restaurants. We spoke with the owner, Gloria, who is charming - and gives the impression she really cares for the restaurant and her customers.

Only critiques: could use a bit more ambiance - and I don't believe they have a full bar. Difficult to locate off of 41 (make sure you know where to turn ahead of time).

“Good Italian cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012 via mobile

The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and vibrant colors. The apps were really good the owner made stuffed figs with a wine sauce out of this world and the the chicken empanadas . I had the seafood pasta really good and for dessert had the gelato. Very friendly place to have a nice quiet dinner with a loved one. The restaurant is not facing us 41, so gps the place before heading over.

“Horrible Experience, Food and Service Awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

Went there based on a recommendation. My family and I were shocked at the food and service being so horrendous. My mother ordered swordfish that had no resemblence to swordfish and tasted really bad- the chef came out and got defensive about whether they were actually serving real swordfish. Had the veal chop was tasteless and very small- don't mind paying high prices but for tasteless and inedible food I won't pay even any price. Even the bread they bring you out to start with was enough to feed one person. Waitress looked like a college age student who obviously had no experience- every time we finished a glass of wine she would ask us if it was okay to take our glass or should she leave the empty glass on the table???- my mother asked for the manager only to be told by the waitress that the manager was too busy to speak with us. We finally spoke with the owner who told us she was sorry and hopes we would give them another try. Sorry- one of the worst dining experiences I ever had. Also, no ambience- in a run down shopping center- they should at the very least think about putting some blinds on the windows.

“EXCELLENT tapas!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012

We stopped by for a light dinner of tapas and wine. Our server recommended a Malbec which was refreshing and perfect for our meal. Between five people we shared four tapas and an entree of paella which was the perfect amount of food. The empendas de pollo were savory, the bruscheta asturiana was a great change from traditional bruscheta with the manchego cheese, but if you order anything, get the stuffed plums! TO DIE FOR! We will definitely be repeat customers, the outside doesn't look like much but the interior is beautiful decorated, a great place for a dinner with girlfriends or for a date.

“Looks can be deceiving - a great find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2012 via mobile

We almost passed up on this place just by looking at it from the outside. We missed it the first three times we drove by, as we didn't realize it was in a strip mall. I'm glad we took the gamble, as it paid off! The Caprese salad was one of the best I've ever had. Everyone enjoyed their entrees and the desserts were amazing! All of the staff was very friendly, and the place was packed! It's a small place, so we lucked out that one table was open. I'd definitely recommend it as a great place to eat. It's much better than all the terrible franchise restaurants in the area! Make a reservation and enjoy!
