“Outstanding Day at the Slough”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

We took off not knowing what we would find and to our surprise, what an excellent way to spend the morning or afternoon. It was a beautiful morning and we walked the boardwalk and saw wild boar and alligtors resting in the water. Then as we headed on we saw red and blue herons just stroling in the slough as well as other birds and beautiful scenery as well. It is a worthwhile trip for anyone and we thoroughly enljoyed ourselves. We also took along sandwiches and ate at the picnic tables made available.

“A great way to spend a few days in Ft. Myers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

We had a group of 5 go for a day-trip and we were not disappointed. We used the "pay-to-park" machine and bought a full-day parking pass for $5. We started at the info center and got the lay of the land from the very friendly staff. The restrooms were clean and the little gift shop was nicely done.
We took the nature walk along boardwalk-path. It wound through the trees and ponds of the preserve. We saw Herons, Ibises, turtles, and two baby alligators! We were hoping to see some river otters - especially at "otter pond", but no such luck. The walk was very nice. The boardwalk style decking made it easy and level. We spoke to a group of elderly people who said it was very easy for them to get around too. You stay clean - there's no walking through mud or dirt paths, and you get a great view of the wildlife. We got some great photos!
I would definitely recommend it to others (and have already), and I will go back again.

“I saw alligators !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

Besides seeing both baby and mama alligators we saw lots of birds and great foliage. This is a beautiful nature walk. We took the tour first. The guide was knowledgeable and so friendly, binoculars are included in the fee. We recently visited again and just took a nice long walk through the preserve ourselves. So much beauty in nature found here. It is a great way to see Florida's natural foliage. We really enjoy the boardwalk through this area. Just wonderful.

“Great place to take walks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

Really enjoyed the free tour. The ranger was informative and friendly. We took a stroller around ourselves and had a nice time taking pictures of all the different kinds of birds.
