“Always a favorite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2010

My Aunt and Uncle had been coming here for years and always treated my husband and children to dinner here. We came last week while on vacation in the area, without our kids for a change and really enjoyed the evening. We love the salads because they always include a huge hunk of cheese and a wonderful dressing that doesn't overwhelm the greens, and tomatoes that have so much flavor. We could make a meal of these salads. My husband and I both had the veal chop with a sprinkling of pancetta and cheese served with potatoes, a polenta square and veggies. Deserts of flourless chocolate cake and Tiramisu were very good renditions of classics. The restaurant only serves beer and wine, which is fine, but would be nice to have a cocktail before dinner, but happy with the mostly Italian wine selections.

“A Perfect Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2010

We returned to Sasse's after being away for some time. The food remained exceptional. The osso bucco was to die for. Under new ownership everything is just friendlier and the service was impeccable. The advice for ordering came from our server and from the owner and it just added to a wonderful dining experience. Dinner at Sasse's is like eating at a European salon. It is to be savored. Located in a small strip mall in an out of the way place, it is a surprise to walk in and discover this little jewel. We will not stay away again.

“Will never ever go to this restaurant again, bad food high prices.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2010

The service was the brightest part of the whole dinner dining experience, and it wasn't what any one in our group of 17 people would call great. The dinner menu was very limited with nothing other than salads under $20.00. We thought this might be a good thing thinking with a limited dinner offering the chief would be on top of the game. Wrong, a line cook at any chain restaurant could and most likely would have done better. Only four other people were seated for dinner at the restaurant so it was not like the cook, can't call him a chef was rushed. The main item on everyones plate seemed to be satisfactory, but all complained that the sides, were cold, this included mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes. fact of the mater some of the potatoes were lumpy and not cooked thru, but most were just cold with very little taste as were the veggies. We were seated in a room that handled our group nicely, it was clean and fit our groups needs well. We are all good friends and meet once a month for a social dinner so we have dined at many venues thru out the years but will skip a return visit to Sase il pizzaiuolo. Best word of advise, don't go there for dinner, over priced, not a great neighborhood, food leaves a lot to be desired. it might be better for lunch, but they sure can't hold themselves up as an upscale dinning establishment when the only thing upscale is the prices.

“FORGET FROMMER's REVIEW.. THAT review is 3 years old!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2009

FORGET FROMMER's REVIEW.. THAT review is 3 years old!! The previous "Soup Nazi" temperamental owner is gone, the food is better and the new (they've been there for 3 years) owners are warm., friendly and knowledgeable wonderful people. Jerry and Barbara really treat you like family! A young chef, trained at Johnson and Wales Culinary Institute is turning out fabulous cuisine and it tastes as good,......better than it looks. Large portions of great food at reasonable prices make this place a gem. We traveled 40 miles to get there and it was more than worth the trip. I can't wait to come back to their Tuscan wine dinner next week! Their name maybe sassy but they should change the name to classy ! This family run restaurant excels on every level!

“Great food and service no ambiance.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2007

The food here was wonderful. I do not think Italian, however, is the proper designation for the cusine. While there were a few Italian dishes, most were rather contemporary like veal shank, steak, etc. There really is something for everyone.

The service was also excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. There was also a good wine list with reasonably priced selections.. The price is fair for what you get, most etnrees are between $16 and $25. The only draw back are the salads. There are no personal salads. You can only order a salad that would feed about four people for $12. So while I wanted a salad, and my husband didn't, I did not want one for $12 even if I could take the rest home.

This restaurant is located in a strip mall in a commercial area. The decor is boring with paper table cloths and napkins. Tables are close together and the place is very well lit. We went for our anniversary, so we were disappointed. Also while there are 30 tables, only six were occupied and we were all seated right next to each other. But the food is well worth overlooking those problems. Really one the best restaurants in the the city.
