My family of five from NJ (lots of great Italian food) vacationed in Ft. Myers for five days. I read good reviews for Nino’s online, but it was a little far from where we were staying. We decided to eat there on our way to the airport and I’m glad we did. We got there at 5:00 PM so the dinner crowd was just starting to build. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was plentiful and better than expected. The pizza was ok by NJ standards, but better than most I’ve had outside of the NY/NJ area. My wife said the Cappelini Toscano was the best pasta dish she’s had in a long time, I tasted it and it was very good. My finicky son devoured his penne in pink sauce; it was not on the menu but they made it to order. My daughter finished her lobster stuffed ravioli, one of the day’s specials. She was the only one to finish their entrée because the portions were very generous. Believe it or not, we brought the leftovers home on the plane and ate them the next day.
The appetizers (we had shrimp cocktail, stuffed mushrooms and chicken wings) were just ok. The salads and dressings were nothing to get excited about. And if you’re looking for a fancy setting, this is not it. That said, they had great service, very tasty entrees and very generous portions and all at reasonable prices. We all wished we had made the trip earlier in our vacation. My recommendation is to skip the appetizers and trust your waiter/waitress’s opinion and if you don’t see something you like, ask for it.
