We had a great meal at the Veranda on a warm evening out on the patio. The service was excellent overall and while some have said that it was stuffy, I have not felt that way. For some reason, we did not get served the bread, but when we mentioned it, it came immediately. The corn muffins with the jelly were particularly tasty. The salads which came with the meal had a bit different elements such as the black beans which made them interesting.
A couple of things resulted in not giving a 5 star rating. When we got there it seemed that they did not remember our reservation although we were seated quickly since there were not many people sitting outside. This restaurant also allows smoking outside and while that was not a problem while we were there, there was a table next to ours that had a cigar and cigarettes in the ash tray. Outside seating is prime in Florida and I feel strongly that restaurants should ban it or at a minimum limit it to one space away from other diners with good ventilation.
While the servers were great in fixing up a box for us to take home, I feel strongly that restaurants which care about our environment should use something biodegradable and not styrofoam.
Finally when we left and tried to get our car which had been valet parked there was no valet to be found even though we walked around a bit and my husband went back inside to try to find out what was going on. i eventually found the valet out talking to someone parked in front of the restaurant. He said he was telling her that she would get towed if she parked there although it looked later to us that it was a valid parking space.
With all these small things, the overall experience was very good.
