Description: Twisted Vine Bistro, located in downtown Fort Myers' historic river district, prides itself in an extraordinary dining experience. We are a beautiful polished, casual upscale restaurant that has an eclectic menu, a full liquor bar, and a wonderful boutique wine list. We offer only the freshest seafood, certified Angus Beef, and other local unique innovative entrees. We also feature an extensive wine list, with over thirty wines by the glass. We even grow our own house herbs and spices in our courtyard garden, which is available for private parties and events, and have partnered with Roots Hertitage Urban Food Hub, a non-profit organization locally growing our in-season produce, to source local ingredients as much as possible. As if the food wasn't enough, we like to have fun and provide live entertainment on the weekends, are big supporters of the Florida Reparatory Theatre, Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center and host networking events during the week to help connect the community.

We have been to this restaurant during the 'off season' with no problem.
Last night was terrible. We were squeezed into a small table in a cramped corner by the window nose to nose with the outside diners...........very odd and very uncomfortable. While we were waiting for a wait staff person to come to our table the hostess pulled a chair from a nearby table and put it right next to my chair with the back facing me...........felt like I was a non-entity not to mention feeling 'caged in'. What!? We got up and left. Doubt if we will return...even in the off season when they seem to care about their customers not just about how many customers can be squeezed into this small restaurant. Too bad Twisted Vine...you lost two valuable off season customers.

“Must Stop for Sunday Brunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

One of our favorites for dinner and now we can enjoy Sunday Brunch. Both Egg Benedicts were great. Nick provided flawless service. Can't wait to go back and try the French Toast.

“Not so great. ”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

We have been there several times over the past few months, as the music is outstanding. In fact, it's the sole reason we return.
The food, however is very ordinary and overpriced. The menu is quite plain with nothing noteworthy or unexpected. The service is always less than expected however.
You could wait 10 minutes or more until a server comes to your table and then they aren't very professional or knowledgeable. I think some serious staff training should be on the menu.
The selection of desserts is laughable, with the quality on a par with a Dennys. Lots of unimaginative sweets with limited skills and originality. Mud pie...seriously? There is, in all fairness, a nice wine selection so when your server ventures over be sure to order a nice house cabernet or pinot noir.

“Lovely ambience, good service, and good food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2013

We visited the Twisted Vine Bistro to celebrate our 31st anniversary this past week and had a great dinner. This place is not cheap, especially the wine list, which is fairly pricey, but we had a wonderful meal and good wines. We ordered an interesting and pleasing Spanish wine, and tried four small plates, which were more than sufficient for the four of us. The tenderloin tips, shredded beef grilled cheese, flat bread topped with goodies, and the cheese plate with garnishes and sliced fruit were all delicious. We shared one order of molten chocolate lava cake, which was excellent. Our server, Tyler, the son of the owners, was exceptionally attentive, helpful, and friendly. Our dinner was special, and we will return. I want to try the Sunday brunch next!

“Slow service, boring yet expensive food, beautiful environment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013

I can understand what attracts people to this restaurant. The courtyard provides a romantic setting and dining by Christmas lights, while the interior is warm, with lots of wood, brick, and stylish decor. Looks aren't everything, though.

The other aspects of my visit were very disappointing. Arrived around 5:30 for cocktails and an early dinner with friends. They were being served drinks when I arrived. I placed my order for a cocktail at that point and, even though the restaurant was mostly empty, it took the waiter 10 minutes to come back with it. After that, he disappeared for a looooong time. It was 6:15 by the time we placed our order. Incredibly slow service prevailed for the rest of the evening.

Menu is rather small - waiter says its new. Some unusual options are available, but I'm not sure how desirable they are. Like, brussel sprouts for an app? Everything quite pricey - $10-15 for apps and salad, three times that for entrees. I am all for splurging on a great meal, but the food has to live up to the price. My $12 Caesar salad didn't have anchovies. I asked - its not even an option. Dressing tasted straight out of a bottle. Ahi tuna ceviche appetizer was room temperature -- not a good sign. $30 entree consisted of 5 scallops and 1/4 cup of risotto.

Making matters worse was what I perceived to be some rudeness - or at least lack of consideration - on the part of the staff. One of our friends could only join us for a drink. The waiter refused to let him pay separately for his beverage -- no splitting checks allowed. Then, despite the fact that the service had been so slow all night, when it benefited the restaurant, they wanted to hurry us along. A group was waiting for our table, and the management allowed them to literally hover around us while we finished up.

Never going back. What a waste of a beautiful location.
