What happened to Selmons? Being seasonal residents, we expected the same high-quality menu to be offered. Lee Roy Selmon had amazing insight and shared some fabulous family recipes with his growing customers. So, we were dismayed to find that, with his recent passing, his menu has been changed. Prime burger? Gone. Beef brisket? Gone. Sweet potato fries? Going. (We were told they are being phased out, but you can still order them even tho' they're off the menu.) Cane vinaigrette for the fries? Gone. So is the anticipation of good food. Okay. So the gumbo is still top notch. The blackened salmon was satisfying. An order of wings were just okay, although the sauce had that Buffalo "kick" one expects. The nachos layered with pulled pork were also okay. Laden with melted cheese, they arrived too cool to the touch and the pork was overly sweet. Oh, and rolls will not be brought to you (even with a salad) unless you ask. And, if you'd like a second roll, that'll be an additional fifty cents, thank you very much. Other customers may be as disgrunled as us because the establishment next door was filled to capacity and lively, whereas Selmon's crowd was very sparse and the mood dull. The drink specials are, thankfully, still offered but now Selmon's is just another burger joint with a lot of TV's. I hope Corporate reads this - "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
