“Manatee Whisperer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013 via mobile

What a day! Lots of birds, eagle spotted rays, dolphins, ... And oh yea, manatees. On at least two separate occasions we had multiple manatees around us, once there were two mom/baby pairs. It helped that the wind was calm and so it seemed a bit easier for our Manatee Whisperer (Tim) to find all manner of things. Kayaking can be hard work, so couch potatoes need not apply, but we're over 60 and had no trouble keeping up. And note cheerful expectation-- you see whatever's there -- is the key to a happy experience. Bottom line: go with Tim. If he can't show you wondrous things on your particular day, then rest assured that no one else could do better

“Excellent day, lots of wildlife”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

Our guide, Tim, aka the Manatee Whisperer, kept us entertained with stories and science questions (we were better than the average 5th grader with our answers) as we kayaked around Estero Bay. After setting our expectations to low-moderate ("alas, there haven't been so many out here this week") we were amazed at all we saw. MANATEES! So cool! We saw them again and again. At times there were 4 or 5 right near our kayaks, pointing their pudgy noses up for a slurf of air, then dipping under again. We had two mother-baby pairs right near us. Mostly, you see their noses and half a face, but one floated right next to our kayak so we could see her huge long bulk. Besides these stars of the show, we also saw spotted eagle rays--big guys, that flapped and splashed--and two green turtles (okay, their heads), a yellow crowned night heron, lots of cormorants, and pelicans. This was tons of fun, even without all the sightings, but better yet because we did see so much. Tim was a tremendous guide who was as excited as we were about the manatees. He whooped and laughed and was generally hilarious. This day was the highlight of my week in Florida. Next time I visit, I will be back on this tour again, finding those amazing manatees.

“Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

If you're in SW Florida do not, I repeat do NOT miss this adventure. I was not feeling well near the date of our reservation. I almost didn't go, but am SO glad I did! Tim & Mike were not only knowledgeable & fun, but kind & considerate.
You will not regret taking this in....manatees pushing your kayak around with their nose, rolling about, swimming alongside your kayak. Water is very shallow, so no danger at all; kayaks are very stable.
If you do nothing else in SW Florida, do this one!
