“What a Nice Place!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

I stayed at the Shell Point Guest House for six nights. This is a guest house in a gated senior community. The rooms were very nice, the grounds were beautifully landscaped, the pool was awesome and most of the time it was empty. There were no refrigerators in the rooms but ice chests were available for use and worked just fine for beverages. The residents I encountered were very nice. I used the Cafe Restaurant for one breakfast & one lunch, food was good, freshly prepared & very reasonable. It's about a mile from the bridge over to Sanibel Island so it's not real convenient to a whole lot. It is convenient to Sanibel and Ft. Myers Beach. Great ice cream place nearby -- Love Boat Ice cream, made on site, lots of flavors and extremely reasonable. The only draw back was not having a computer convenient for flight checkin. The computer center is only open a couple of hours a day. I would definitely return and use it as accomodations for Sanibel. Even the $6 bridge toll still makes this place a great bargain.

Best price in town, wonderfully quiet location with generous space. On the grounds of a retirement community in Fort Myers, near the bridge to Sanibel Island. Recommended: Visit the orchid house, and find resident-crafted treasures in the Gift Shop in the lobby. We had planned to move on after one night, but due to weather had to stay in Fort Myers - and were lucky enough to find they had rooms for us. You can't reserve on line, and the front desk is not automated, so leave your urgency in your car. This is Florida - in a retirement community - think slow! And enjoy the gracious courtesy and friendliness.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms are level access from the lobby.

My wife's mom lives at Shell Point, so we have stayed at the Guest House many times now. The Guest House is available as to the public as well and is an AAA approved hotel.
The rooms have been recently upgraded with flat screen TVs, plantation shutters and new comforters. The coffee is kept well stocked in the room. The beds are very comfortable. We enjoy our nice, quiet, relaxing stays at the Guest House!!

On a recent visit to a resident of Shell Point Rehab center we stayed at the Shell Point Guest House. Simple clean, convienent. Friendly staff, good advice on resturants. Pretty location, great place to walk.
Air conditioner could be stronger

Room Tip: lower level has smoking rooms. We had no one below us, but it could be a problem

We found Shell Point on the internet through Trip Advisor and we loved it!

We booked a room through their toll free number in a matter of minutes for just $56 total for one night. When we arrived the check in was short ,sweet and the lady at the desk was very helpful.

The room was a nice basic room with 2 queen beds, table, chairs, TV and bathroom. the room was very clean the furnishings in great shape. there was a coffee maker with everything to brew several pots of coffee as well as toiletries in the bath.

there are coin operated laundry facilities, vending machines, and free ice. they have a heated pool, a work out center, bike trails and walking trails. they have several onsite restaurants within walking distance but we did not eat there because they do not allow shorts for dinner and we did not come prepared but everyone raves about the food

the guest house is located at Shell Point Retiremnt Community which is a beautiful full service gated retirement community located on the river just before you head over the bridge to Sanibel.

Its one of the nicest pleaces I have stayed in the area and its very, clean, safe and very attractive. the grounds are beautifully landscaped, clean and scenic

At $56 per day its a bargain compared to Sanibel and Captiva where $125/day is a rare bargain. You can go to the Islands pay the $6 bridge toll, spend the day at the beach and come back to shellpoint for the evening.

It's great bargain and a wonderful place to relax and unwind. We highly recommend Shell Point Guest House.

my only suggestions would be a minifridge for snacks and they should put more info about their restaurants in the rooms so people will be encouraged to use them.

This place was GREAT for the price. It's not for party animals, it's a retirement resort but my husband and I (in our mid 20s) loved it for a quiet time. Rooms are average, need some updating, but for $50/night you cant beat it! Minutes from several beaches and lovely surroundings on the grounds. We would wake up, get cofffee and walk the grounds - you see manatees and dolphins in the early am, definitely worth getting up at 5!! So beautiful and quiet, we truly enjoyed just relaxing here.

The Guest House is located in the gated Shell Point retirement community. The community is AWESOME with a marina, community garden, orchid greenhouse, small beach, woodshop, model train exhibit, salon/spa, pool table, library, gym, swimming pool, gift shop of residents' handmade crafts, shuffleboard courts, walking trail, transit, cafe and fine dining restaurant. The Guest House is a typical two-story block building with standard motel rooms. The staff and residents are very welcoming. The location is great - just before the causeway to Sanibel and a few minutes to downtown Ft Myers or Ft Myers Beach. The community is very quiet so if you're looking for a relaxing place to stay this is it. The streets roll-up around 9pm so if you're a partier or have wild kids this probably isn't the place for you. We're 30-somethings and really enjoyed our stay.
