“Truly unique and interesting place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2014 NEW

We did the audio tour which allowed a little more flexibility in our schedule. The alternative was a guided tour which looked good too.

The houses and gardens were stunning. So much to see and take in.

Well worth a visit!

“How to”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2014 NEW

Though a lovely place to visit, it is rather disappointing that they don't provide more guidance on how to structure your visit. Here is what I'd like to share so you can make the most of your own visit.
The Estates and all the buildings are OPEN during the Christmas lighting beginning at 5:30. So there is no need to purchase the 2 admissions (yes, there is a separate admission for the lights), unless you want to stroll the grounds. The gardens and grounds can be seen before the sun sets and the lights go on at dusk. Nothing very extensive. The holiday lighting is pretty, but simple. Go to Marie Selby or Florida Botanic Gardens for their spectacular displays.
I was particularly disappointed in the home tour, or lack of....You can only view the downstairs rooms, and then only by looking in through the window or door. There is no access to the inside. That said, they are lovely!
Also saw people with info devices. We never were offered these, don't know if they were additionally billable as the guided tour was. The docent guided tour is very worthwhile. Be sure to ask.
I asked alot of questions before purchasing our admission, but apparently didn't ask enough.

“A Step Back In Time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2014 NEW

Great museum as well as guided tours of these homes. Guides are very knowledgeable to the point of giving you the feeling you're stepping back in time. Beautiful surroundings and a "must see" while you're in Ft. Myers.

“Nice piece of American history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2014 NEW

It's a nice piece of American history what's incredibly preserved.
We live in Naples but are from Holland.
Every time we have friends and Family over, I bring them to the Estate.
We and also our guests love this.
