April's has been in downtown Ft. Myers since at least the 1980s and was lovingly run by an older couple who didn't change anything during that time. And it worked. Good home-made sandwiches, soups, and salads. Oh, and of course, their home-baked pies. I don't even know that they changed the prices all that much.
A year or two ago, they retired and a younger couple took over and changed a few things, mostly for the better. The pies are still here, same recipes as before, as are most of the sandwiches. The new owners have added a little latino flair to the menu, most notably a cuban sandwich to the regular daily menu and Taco Tuesdays and Spanish Pork with rice & beans on some Thursdays. They've also upgraded the coffee offerings a bit as well. The one victim of the change is the old pasta salad. While I found the old pasta salad to be a bit too bland, the new one is sometimes overpowering. I like it for the most part, but there are a few people in my office who don't care for it at all.
