“Beautiful Hotel and Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2010

I work in the hotel business, so I can be very critical of hotels when I travel. I was very impressed from the moment we checked into the Sanibel Harbour Marriott. The guard called the front desk and they already knew our name and had our reservation on the screen. She addressed us by name and offered an upgrade at the same rate for a king suite garden view since there weren't any king rooms available with a water view. We choose to stay in the Q/Q water view room in the main building. The room is very spacious and has new furnishings. The view is spectacular - we watched dolphins play right in front of the hotel each afternoon. The service throughout the hotel was great. Every staff member we met was very friendly and courteous. We had light meals and drinks by the pool, and breakfast in the restaurant - all very good. They make a great margarita. The location of this hotel is perfect for visiting Fort Myers. It is very central to the beaches and easy to find.
If you have time, make sure to go kayaking in the mangroves. Go to the marina one street back and rent from there - it is much easier then paddling around the island from the hotel. They give you a map with the kayak route marked and it is very easy to follow. Make sure you don't go at low tide as it is hard to get around some of the channels.

I just spent some of the most restful, carefree days of vacation ever at the Sanibel Harbour Marriott. From poolside food and beverage service to employees trained to anticipate and be responsive to your needs, the Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort is a perfect place to veg out. relax, have a personal retreat or a getaway with friends or a partner. My only complaint, and it is a small one, is that they also seem to have a fairly regular business retreat clientele which can add some jarring corporate or fraternity energy at times.

Stayed at this Marriott, using Marriott reward points. We did get a large spacious room in the Captiva Tower. We were placed on the lobby floor in a handicapped room which was a little odd, but did have a water view and view of the pool. The grounds were well kept and the room was clean. The hotel did appear a bit dated, so hopefully with Marriott taking over they will make some needed upgrades. Location wise it is nice, right at the bridge over to Sanibel Island, but it is a little far from restaurants and other shopping. Parking was $12 per night which seemed a little much since the property did have a parking attendant checking cars entering the property. One nice surprise though was the free WiFi which worked great. Would stay here again if returning to Fort Myers / Sanibel area.

My mom and I stayed here from February 27 - March 2, 2010 for a girls weekend. Our room was in the main building. We had requested Captiva Tower but were happy we were in the main building because that is where all the action is. Our room was clean, spacious and well appointed. We were upgraded to a water view upon check in. The view from our balcony was amazing! We saw dolphins from our balcony which was super cool.

We dined in all the eating establishments - pool bar, Tarpon House, Courtside Steakhouse, Charley's Cabana Bar, and the Starbucks bakery in the lobby. All were excellent if a bit pricy, which we expected. On that note, the Courtside Steakhouse food was excellent but the service did not match the prices. The pools were wonderful. The spa was wonderful, as well. We each had a pedicure and a facial and were happy with them. We also used the indoor lap pool, the hot tub, and the sauna (the steam room was out of service). We did not utilize the bikes, fishing, or rec room. I plan to on my next visit, though. I highly recommend this resort.

My wife and two young children stayed at the hotel over the past weekend, and we had a great time. We arrived early afternoon on Saturday and needed to get our rooms quickly so that our kids could get a much needed nap. Jenna in the Captiva building was a huge help. In spite of my curt demenour upon check in (I was a bit stressed from a 4 hour drive with a 2 year old and a 3 year old), she was calm, helpful and a real pro. She got us early check in to one room to get the girls down, and got housekeeping right to work on the ajoining room. Stepping into the elevator on our way up my cell phone rang. It was Jenna calling to let me know that the other room was ready and a key was at the front desk. Anyone traveling with children knows how far this kind of service goes. The rest of our stay was delightful with good service and great food. We have been before and will be back again.

My husband and I spent the Valentines weekend at the Marriott and we stayed at the Captiva Tower. This property is very spread out and this tower is the furthest away from the main building. It wouldn't have been an issue, but it was very cold that wekend!

The view was very good! We saw dolphins and had a beautiful sunset! The bed was large and comfy. Too bad there is no updated bathroom or large tub or flat screen t.v.

The little spa was great! Private sauna and all the fitness equiptment you need, plus a wonderful spa staff. Ask for Mary for your facial treatments, she's great! (I am very picky.)

Spent the last week here in SW Florida. The weather was chilly, but the amenities and service at this hotel really made up for it. Clean hotel, exceptional service. Staff went out of their way to assist in any way possible. Had dinner at The Tarpon Room last night, and the manager stopped and chatted, making sure all was well (it was).

The fitness center is stocked with free weights, numerous machines, treadmills, etc., and is open 24 hours. I did not take advantage of the full extent of the spa, but those I spoke with all seemed to have a great experience. Stayed in the Tower on the 8th floor with a partial view of the water and the inland area.
