If you are considering a trip to Ft. Lauderdale; stay anywhere except the Inverrary. Even though service is good. This hotel is in a very part of town. Very difficult to access highways, turnpike, etc. I stayed there for three days, and not once did I have hot water. Beds are terribly uncomfortable and the pillows are the size of a matchbox. Sirens blaring at all hours from crime ridden neigborhood surrounding it. Televisions sets do not work properly because they are very old. Other than that...enjoy your stay if my words have fallen on deaf hears!

We stayed at the Inverrary on October 8-9. The room we got was on the 7th Floor, with a great view. The room was renovated with hardwood floors, new furniture and renovated bathroom. I really don't have anything to complain about. The staff was courteous and even called to ask if the room was OK (the room was excellent). There is wireless internet throughout the building, but the reception is a little spotty sometimes. Overall, it is definitely better than any two star we have stayed in, and about as good as the average three star hotel. I got a great rate ($41) on the room (through PL), and there is nothing close to this quality in this price range. Once they have upgraded all the rooms they will probably raise the rates.

We were there for a family event at the country club across the street. The country club was lovely. The hotel was convenient, but I have to say that it was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. Not only did the air conditioning go out while we were there, but there was no bellhop to help us with our luggage, the light did not work in the bathroom, we were not given soap until we asked for it, and we ate a meal in the bar which can only be described as inedible. If this was a motel, I would understand it, but they call themselves a resort and actually charge a $15 per night "resort fee." The swimming pool is adequate, but other than that, I could find nothing to fit the category of resort. We registered for 3 nights, and checked out in the evening of the second night when it appeared the air conditioning was going out again.

“Excellent stay -”

Inverrary Hotel

May 30, 2008

After booking the hotel reservation I got to read a few reviews and became concerned. This was my week vacation and we were bringing along our married children. And boy are they picky. So I really wanted it to be perfect. Well, I was very pleasantly impressed. Almost everything in the hotel was either brand new or recently rebuilt. Brand new rooms, new carpets in hallways, new dining room and a clean lobby. A beautiful park/botanical garden was just installed across the road. The golfing was great and reasonable. Shops were easily accessible. Airport was 15 minutes away. The staff and management were simply super. They couldn't do enough to please us. As a coffee drinker, waking up with a fresh cup of Starbuck didn't hurt either.
They also had clean, well cared for, tennis courts (my wife enjoyed that part) and a well stocked pro shop.
All in all I would give this hotel a 2 thumbs up for anyone who wants a great stay at reasonable prices.

Getting to the hotel --
When we drove through a rough part (bars on the windows - not well lit at all and people meandering about) of Ft Lauderdale to the hotel we were less than pleased - but kept an open mind.

The check in process
When we arrived and there were tax liens on the door - we were really worried. Then I was confronted with a $15 per night resort fee charged on top of the rate I paid on priceline. I asked what do I get for the resort fee I was told, a newpaper - which we never got - acess to the work out facilities, and parking. Good grief! The walls were so dirty and there was hols in the drywall in the lobby.
We were assigned to room 524 (more on the room later).

The elevator!
What a death trap. Sometimes wouldnt come at all, sometimes would stop with 1ft above the floor that first night - It didnt go all the way up to the 5th floor so we got out on the 4th floor and walked up dirty dark stairwell to the 5th floor.

The room - 524

The room was very dirty. There was hair in the bathtub, rust and mold everywhere - see the pictures. Broken things in the room light the SMOKE DETECTOR. Everything just looks old, dirty and beat up. The luxurious balcony was so mold covered it was disgusting. Mold on the shower curtin, mold on the ceiling, mold on the pictures, mold everywhere! Not to mention this room was right next to the stairwell (remember the elevator doesnt work so everyone has to use the stairs) the stairwell door slammed all night. Did you know that expired hair conditioner stinks really bad? I do now!

There were so many things wrong with this room. I will name what was acceptable. The beds were moderately comfottable and the sheets seemed clean.

The staff

The staff is very nice and wants to help, the problem is that they aare working in a dump! It must be very frustrating

I wish I could give this place a lower rating.
