Spent the week of August 19-26, 2007 at the Beachplace Towers. Overall we had a very nice time at the BPT. I was hesitant because some of the reviews on tripadvisor were a bit critical, but went with an open mind. These are the things we found abou the BPT.

The drive form the airport was a breeze. It was literally 15 minutes door to door and easy to find. At first I drove past the resort and had to double back, but it was my fault. I wasn't paying attention. Too busy looking at the beach.

At first the navigating through the parking lot was a bit confusing, but after the initial drive up to the P4 level, it wasn't a problem at all. We had a minivan and I didn't find it to be clumsy going through the parking lot. If your a small family or couple, I would suggest not renting a car and just using cabs to get around. I believe the cost of a taxi to and from the airport is very reasonable. So in hind sight, the weekly cost of a minivan ($480) and the daily parking cost ($14 per day/ $98 for the week) at the resort could've been saved if i used taxis instead.

We spent the week with friends and requested to have the 2 bedroom condos for each family to be close together, so it took a while after the scheduled 3pm check in to accommadate this request. We waited until 4:30pm when we approached the front desk to see what the hold up is. Thats when "Hector" at the front desk made some adjustments and got us our 2bdrm condos next to each other as requested. he was a great help.

We were on the 11th floor. I took the advice of previous reviews and requested the intercoastal view because I was afraid of the noise from the bars down below. Best advice so far. I felt that this was a better than the ocean view. In the evenings the sunset is beautiful and the lights of the city are gorgeous. No complaints and would recommend the intercoastal side. The rooms were very spacious and clean. If your looking for 5 star look elsewhere. Everything was very nice and comfortable. The furnishing were a little dated but nicely decorated. We requested a couple of pack n plays and high chairs, both were delivered quickly after we were in our room. The 2 bedrooms are actually a 1 bedroom with an adjoining studio. So a lack of space was never an issue. There are pool towels in each room and getting clean ones took a phone call to housekeeping. Try to request a room away from the trash room. We were not close to it, but whenever i had to throw out the garbage, i could smell the garbage drop as I got closer to it.

The elevators were a bit slow at times, but never had to wait more than 5 minutes at a time. They could use additional elevators, but it wasn't much of a bother for us.

The beach is right across the street. It's a quick elevator ride down to P1 and walk to the beach. All of the hotels on A1A is situated the same way. BPT offers free sand toys for the kids and for a fee, beach chairs and umbrellas for rent are available. The beach was clean and the water was very warm. On the beach itself there are umbrellas and lounge chairs already set up. These are the property of the city and for $35 per day you can rent them. On 1 day I tried to negotiate with the guy in charge of the beach chairs. I explained to him if we can get a discounted rate because we were only going to stay for another hour and leave before noon. He quickly became irritated with me because "he gets asked the same question 50 times a day and there are no discounts". I guess I was the 51st person for that day. I didn't appreciate his attitude and let him know it. I paid his $35 and told him it wasn't necessary to bark like that. After a while he realized how he reacted and offered us an additional lounge chair. Despite this 1 issue, which had nothing to do with the BPT, we enjoyed the beach alot.

Places to eat. Bubba Gump Shrimp restaurant is 2-3 blocks south of the BPT. decent food but their A/C wasn't working. They had mobile coolers, the kind you see on tv for football players while they're sitting on the bench during a hot game day. they told us that it would be cool enough inside. Wrong. It made the dinner a very bad experience. A lot of the restaurants in the area are much of the same. "open air" restaurants. So be sure to choose a restaurant with A/C for a comfortable meal. The best place to have a good meal at very reasonable prices...the Palm Grill. It's on level P2. $4.99 lunches and very reasonable dinners. The Terayaki wings are a hit the kids. Definitely try the place, well worth it.

The Market place in the resort is more fast food rather than convenience store. Has a Pizza Hut and cold sandwiches to offer. I think that if they served burgers and fries or items like that it would be much better. One day for lunch we ordered take out from the Hooter's on P3 and brought it back to the pool. the rest of the week we spent our meals either at the Palm Grill, Lu Lu's (just ok) Hooter's(take out) or cooked in the room. There is a great Publix supermarket south on A1A. It's about the 3rd light after the bridge. Get your weekly supplies there. They have everything. There is also a Walgreens Drug store also south on A1A, right over the bridge.

I would highly recommend to go to the "Original Steakhouse and Sports Theatre" restaurant. Very good food at a great price. It's a cross between a steakhouse and sports bar. It's very kid friendly. Try the ribs, wings and Rib eye. You won't go wrong. It's located in the same shopping center as the Publix.

Went to Boomer's. It an amusement center. Not much in terms of rides for toddlers, but it has a bunch of stuff for the older kids. 8 yrs old and up. Very large Video arcade room and 3 minature golf courses. Also has go carts, coaster and bumper cars. the kids enjoyed it.

Los Olas is a riverfront center. Has a bunch of restaurants, bars and shops. Nothing for kids of any age. It's not a very large complex and you can walk from one end to another in 5 minutes. The one thing they have which is kid friendly is the water tour. It goes through the bay to see the houses on "millionaire row". When you get to the BPT and look out on the Intercoastal side, you'll see what I'm talking about.

Overall we had a very nice time at the BPT. No major complaints or issues. The location is great and the accommadations were very comfortable, comfortable enough where we were able to relax and enjoy the Florida sun. I hope this review is of help.

My family and I stayed here and had a very nice time. The staff was very accomodating and prompt if we needed something and even called to make sure we received it!
The hotel offers free wireless internet service and this was very helpful to go online for planning things to do although the hotel staff will arrange activities for you.
The beach was very nice with clear, calm water and directly across the street. The pool was nice, although it is a little small for a hotel of this size.
Parking is $14 a day so if you are not leaving the general vicinity, you might want to forego the rental car. There are plenty of restaurants and bars directly under the hotel and within walking distance. There is also a water taxi that can take you to Las Olas Boulevard which has a lot of restaurants and shops or to the Galleria Mall.
We recommend walking a couple of blocks to Bubba Gump's which was a favorite of our teenagers for their HUGE desserts. The Palm Grille had 3 for 1 drink specials and very good burgers.
Overall, we had a nice vacation and would definitely recommend this hotel.

We were there during the McDonalds Airshow and it was great. I don't suggest renting a car if you plan to stay right in the immediate area as it's hard to park in the gargage and there is a $14 per day fee. A cab ride from the airport is about $25. You can get around by taking the water taxi for $12 per person. It was a lot of fun and you get a chance to see so much of the intercostal waterways.

Many people have complained about the slow elevators, but we had no problem at all. Our room was on the intercostal side on the 15th floor, was very quiet and had a great view. It wasn't as nice as other Marriott's we've stayed in, but it wasn't bad. The pool is small for a hotel that size, but we are beach lovers so that wasn't a problem.

There are so many restaurants and entertainment within a few blocks we didn't have time to get to them all. It's a great party place and we'll definitely be going back.

We decided to take a 5-day vacation to Fort Lauderdale. After doing a lot of searching of hotels we decided on the BecahPlace Marriot for the best value and having everything we were looking for in a vacation hotel.

The room we stayed in was a guest Villa on the 6th floor facing the city. It would have been nice to have an ocean view, but the view of the city is by no means bad. The room was very clean, quiet and had more then we needed (Mini Fridge, couch, safe, patio chairs, etc etc). We loved the room! And contrary to some previous reviews, house cleaning is free if you are renting the room as a guest and not an owner.

This hotel has tons of activities for kids and adults all day long. Our trip was so packed full of stuff that we didn’t have a chance to do any of them, but if you have kids this would be a wonderful place for them. The pool is kind of small, but the ocean is way more fun to swim in so the pool was not that big of a deal at all. The hotel also rents chairs and beach umbrellas, but the city provides them for free down on the beach on a first come first serve basis and we didn’t have any trouble getting one.

Inside the lobby is a mini Starbucks that makes decent lattes and other drinks, not as good as a regular Starbucks, but not a bad way to get your day started.

Under the hotel is a small outdoor mall. There are some good restaurants in the mall, our favorite was the Palm Grill, which had some very inexpensive lunch specials and 3 for 1 drinks all day and night.

The hotel is almost right next to the water taxi. If you don’t want to rent a car or pay outrageous taxi fees this is a great option. The water taxi is $11 for an all day pass and stays open until around midnight. The great thing about the water taxi is its run just like a tour boat as they point out all kinds of landmarks and things to see.

The Marriot has four of its own private elevators that you do not have to share with the rest of the parking garage like another review said. If you rent a car parking is $14 per day instead of the $22 the garage normally charges. Renting a car made our trip so much better and I would highly recommend it to get the most out of the Fort Lauderdale area. If you do need to take a taxi to the hotel it should run you about $25. Print out a map or mapquest the airport to the hotel before you go! The taxi drivers have no problem ripping off people new to the area. We stayed at a Ramada almost just across the street from the airport and the taxi driver drove us in a big circle for a $25 taxi ride that should have only been $10. Also when you get to the hotel it says parking for the Marriot on Level 4 and 5, but you can get out on level 1, take the same elevator and save another $5 or so on your taxi ride.

We would highly recommend staying at the BeachPlace Marriot. It’s our new favorite vacation spot. You will not be disappointed.

We booked 3 nights at the Marriott to sightsee around Ft. Lauderdale prior to a Western Caribbean cruise sailing out of Port Everglades. We got a pretty good rate because we booked early, with no refunds or changes. That ended up being a problem when our flight got canceled unexpectedly, and we had to fly a day later. Unfortunately, we still got charged for 3 nights, even though we only stayed for 2. We were up on the 17th floor, in a King Villa, with a nice view of the intracoastal waterway. The suite was very nice, clean, and spacious. Our 2 kids loved having their own space and TV, and the kitchen and laundry facilities were convenient. There was nothing complimentary at this hotel - there is a small convenience store in the lobby that sells snacks and drinks for inflated prices. My daughter forgot her toothbrush, and even that was not complimentary. We also paid substantially for use of the Internet. But the most annoying problem of all was the elevator service! Every time we needed to use it, we had to wait a long time. During the middle of the day, we sometimes waited 20 minutes, along with crowds of others. One of the employees kept repeating 'this is how you make friends' - which soon got very irritating. Since we were up on the 17th floor, the stairs were not really an option. We soon learned to try and minimize use of the elevators. They need to build more elevators!! We also found all the different parking levels P1-P5 to be confusing. We did like the hotel's closeness to the beach, and we walked to Bubba Gump's a couple of times for dinner. We ended up renting a car and drove to Sawgrass Mills, Las Olas Boulevard, and the Riverwalk. There wasn't very much to do within walking distance of the hotel. After our cruise, we stayed at the Hampden Inn near the airport, which had a nice complimentary breakfast, Internet service, and morning newspaper. They also had a fitness center, pool, and no elevator problems! We won't be staying at the Marriott Beachplace Towers again, and wouldn't recommend it to any of our friends.
