“Please note who is actually leaving bad reviews”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2010

All of the people who leave bad reviews are either old or are coming here with young kids. I am amazed at how they seem shocked that "Fort Lauderdale is noisy during spring break". DUH. Next they will got to New York during New Years and say its "too crowded". Think people.

I have been to over half of the Marriott Vacation Club properties so I will give you a honest, real review from someone who knows better. This property is right smack dab in the center of downtown ft lauderdale. It can be compared to Timber Lodge in Lake Tahoe or the Grand Chateau in Vegas. Seeing as it's a downtown location, yes it can be a bit noisy. But that's the trade off for staying downtown (honestly it wasn't noisy at all when I was there, but im not an old fart who complains all the time). You are right on ft lauderdale beach and close to all the mansions and shops and great food. I had a high floor oceanfront unit which was breathtaking. If you don't get an oceanview, you will most likely get a city view which is AMAZING at night so its win-win.

If you are used to (and prefer) properties like Ocean Pointe, Ko Olina, Newport Coast, etc. that are far removed from the city and have more of a resort-esque feel you may not like this property. If you are old and think going up in an elevator is the hardest thing in life, then you might not like this property. If you plan on traveling to South Beach every day and not staying put at the resort, you may not like this property. Mainly because you will have to drive up and down the parking garage. But why are you driving so much when you are staying right where you need to be? Book in Miami if that's the case.

The rooftop pool was nice and always heated, the hot tubs were great too. Again, I was here during spring break and there was plenty of room at the pool and beach, not a lot of noise, and the elevators were a LITTLE slow but definitely not something that would ruin my vacation. The staff was amazing at the guy at the marketplace makes a mean roast beef sandwich. Just relax, take a step back, and realize that you are on vacation in one of the best cities in Florida (a place most people will never get to go).

My wife and I stayed at the Marriott Beachplace Towers March 7th to the 14th, which is during college spring break (more on this later). We exchanged our Orlando Marriott Grand Vista unit to go further south due to the cold winter in Florida this year. This worked out well as the weather was good most days. I won’t get into the whole issue of getting through the garage underneath the hotel or the wait for the elevators, as that has been discussed at length in previous emails, other than to say we did not find it too bad. What my wife and I did want to comment on is the “feel” of Beachplace Towers. We have stayed at many beach resorts over the years, and especially other Marriotts. In order to go to the beach at Beachplace Towers you have to take the elevator to the bottom level of the parking garage, then walk through the mall and kiosks, then cross the street to get to the beach. Not your typical resort experience, more of a big city hotel feeling. That being said, the beach in front was wide, clean and very nice. Later in the days when the spring break kids woke up and came down to the beach, we would move down the beach some to get some space. Definitely get the beach chairs from the activities center for $3 apiece for the day. The guy on the beach charges $50 for two chairs and an umbrella.

Everything in the room worked fine and seemed in good condition, so we had no issues there. We were in room 401. Even though we were on the ocean side, our ocean view was partial, as the hotel to the side and front of the Marriott blocked us. I would think that many of the rooms ending in 01 would have the same issue. One last thing on the room to note is the 10 am checkout time. This is earlier than most other places we have stayed. The pool was big enough, but not a resort type pool. If you are out there early enough, set up to the right side of the pool as you exit the building. You keep the sun later in the day. The left side of the pool lost the sun by 2:00 as it moved behind the building.

Spring Break. We were kind of surprised at how many spring break kids stay at Beachplace Towers. The Marriott has everyone sign a form upon check-in that basically is a one strike and you’re out warning, which tries to set the tone. This sounds good, and we did not test it by asking any of the loud groups to be removed. However, if we still had children with us we would have had to do something, as the hallways were pretty wild until 10 PM or so.

I was in town for business and wanted my wife to have quick access to the beach. We got a suite for around $320 night. Very roomy and clean.

We exchanged our week through Interval and reserved our date a year ago to make sure we got the Super Bowl Weekend and it was also my husband's birthday. The resort was great, the view was wonderful and the location was in the middle of everything we wanted to see and do. We invited another couple that had never stayed at a timeshare and they were very impressed with the room and amenities. Having a full size kitchen was the best. A relative let us use her car to get around and the parking garage was not as bad as we had heard. The resort guests parked on the 4th and 5th levels and when you got on the elevator, it would take you to anywhere from the mall to the roof. The staff was very professional and friendly. This will be our choice of resorts whenever we vacation in South Florida.

Was here a year ago and wondered if they made any improvements. We were not high on the place back then, but the location brought us back.

You should know there's no real entrance to this place ... you get to it from the garage - not very impressive but functional if you have a car. So many restaurants nearby you don't need a car...or the $50 a week parking fee (double that if you rent from Marriott).

Our 1 bedroom suite faced the ocean - but was cramped for 4 adults. Plus, you only get 4 towels and housekeeping told us they have to last us a week because we didn't rent from Marriott, but we could wash them ourselves in the in-room washer/dryer. You don't get maid service either.

They pretend to be energy conscious but still only give you 4 dinner plate sets on which to eat so you run the dishwasher constantly. The sofabed is a piece of junk...so uncomfortable to sleep on. Almost no shampoo bottles so bring your own...along with paper plates. There's a convenient CVS next door.

Free WIFI but no laptop desk and not even a chair in the bedroom, which seems standard in Marriott hotels! TVs were HD widescreen, but get this … there were no HD channels to watch, only standard definition programs.

I called the front desk about what seemed like a great many oversights and was told it’s not Marriott’s fault because the owners association put in a lot of cutbacks because it’s just a timeshare condo with individual owners most of whom don’t even stay here.

But, when you walk 100 yards to the beach you forget all those shortcomings, so I'll probably come back again.

We have been to at least a dozen Marriott Timeshares sine we own two, along with 5 others. This is sadly the worst of those we have visited. Noisy especially at night makes it tough if you bring small children. Parking garage is a mess with long flites up and down, and the rooms are really just converted hotel rooms. Not at all up to the quality of other Marriott properties. Nice pool and great beach access as well as nice access to intercoastal and restaurants, but Marriott has better properties even in Fort Lauderdale. It was a disappointment to us.

We stayed here through exchanging our timeshare with Interval International and went with our 2 year old son and two friends with their 1 year old daughter.

We flew into Miami airport and asked the hotel to book a taxi to the hotel, which was really lovely as the time we went before we hired a car and it was really tiring after a long flight to get our hire car, which was not near the airport.

We had booked ahead to ask for our rooms to be near each other with one view over the ocean and the other over the waterways, and got exactly what we asked for.

We booked the two bedroom suites, one for us and one for them which were a home from home. we had the space we wanted with the little people. All was very clean and tidy.

The location of the hotel was brilliant, as I mentioned we did not hire a care this time and didnt need it. We had already been to FL so was just interested in walking to local restuarants, easy access to the beach and goo pool to play and sunbathe round. That is what we got. OUr friends hadnt been there and used the local bus service to go an visit places. We did use the boats on the waterway to get to the shops and have a look around. A main reason we didnt hire a car was because it was expensive to use the hotel's car park.

The weather was amazing when we got there and was so for the whole holiday, really hot.

The Splash bar by the pool really made it for us, Pete the barman was so welcoming and friendly which brough people together to socialise together. We met some great people on the holiday too.

We ate round the pool at lunch, and then most evenings we went to the bars around.

Thoroughly enjoyed and loved our holiday here!
