Stayed a week at this Marriott from July 1-8, 2006. We have been to many Marriott timeshares and were disappointed by this one. Parking is a nightmare.....you have to go round and round to get to Level 4-5. We've never had to pay $12/night to park at a Marriott timeshare either.
The pool was extremely small and full of noisy children. Because of the height of the building the pool area was completely in the shade by 3 P.M. The beach was still sunny but we had no chairs to sit on.
We requested a room on a high floor with an intracoastal view. It was nice until Tuesday when they put plastic on our picture window to protect it from the painting crew. When I complained to the manager he actually argued with me that we had been told at check-in (we had not). At first he refused to do anything but later offered to change our villa after he informed us of the good news/bad news. The good news was that the plastic would come off Thurs. afternoon. The bad news was that the plastic would then go up over our balcony.
We got a nice surprise one morning at 5:30 A.M. There was a fire alarm pulled on our floor and two others. Since we were on the 16th floor with 5 levels of parking under the hotel we had to trudge down 21 flights of stairs in our pajamas. No one from Marriott was at the bottom to tell us what to do. Finally, a Marriott employee came out to the front of the hotel to tell us it was a false alarm and we could re-enter the hotel. We heard that no one told the visitors in the parking garage and they ended up yelling at the Marriott employees in the lobby.
This is one of the few Marriott timeshares we have been at that does not include a mid-week cleaning. A change of beach towels was free but a change of bath towels was charged for. (I believe it was $7.00)
The promenade along the beach was nice to walk along and the fireworks on the Fourth were very convenient. The mall underneath the Marriott was also very convenient--especially when it was raining and we didn't feel like having to drive to have dinner.
We are at the Palm Beach Shores Marriott this week and is is ten times nicer than Ft. Lauderdale.
Went to downtown Hollywood one day. What a depressed area. There were a lot of restaurants but not much else. Would not recommend this.
Sawgrass Mills was great and the Galleria was okay, but the Macy's there was closed for renovations. Loved the Pirate store at the corner of Los Olas and A1A. Got Pirate t-shirts there.
Good Mexican restaurant on Sunrise Ave. across from the beach. Lulu's was also good.
Will not return to this Marriott. However, it would be fun for travelers around college-age.
