We stayed at this hotel 2 weeks prior to spring break and loved it. 2 adults, 2 children under age 8. Don't believe all the negative stuff you read on about this hotel.

THE GOOD: Location, location, location. Great Beach, Shopping, Restuarants, Kids Activities, Gym, Staff. Los Olas is great and the IMAX/Kids Museum as well. Take the Trolley if can can which runs mostly on weekends. Galleria Mall is good for a couple hours during a rain shower. Pool and two hot-tubs are nice, yet somewhat smaller than you would like.

THE NOT SO GOOD: Slow elevators, goofy parking set-up (try to limit yourself to one trip and out per day).

OTHER NOTES: Adults with no kids may want the beach side, lower floor to above all the music and people drinking. Families may want a higher floor intercoastal (where we stayed). Fabulous view and you watch all the boats drive by as well.
Overall Security seemed fine. MarketPlace convienience store is great but painfully expensive. Hit the Publix or other grocery store before you check in.

Plenty to do, nice place to stay. The week just flew by. Enjoy!

Beachplace towers grew on my husband and I. At first we didn't like the hustle and bustle of the location but then we realized that this is the place to be on Ft Lauderdale beach. All of the fun restaurants are right at your door. We rented a car and realized quickly that we didn't need it, or the $17/day parking fee.
We ate at the nice restaurants at the galleria mall, (a short drive away were you can take the water taxi or a regular taxi) and had drinks and enjoyed the live music at Lulu's or the dueling piano bar or Sloppy Joes. All of which is in the beachplace towers!! We stayed out everynight and walked to our room after we walked the strip! We had a lot of fun.
The beach is right there and so is the pool. Just stop at Walgreeens or publix on the way in and get some minor groceries for the room (you get a fridge and a mircowave along with dishes, coffee mugs, glasses and utensils and a coffee pot). We had breakfast on the lanai every morning! It was a great trip! The hotel was in need of some updating, otherwise, the location made up for it! FUN, FUN, FUN!!

  • Liked — Location is very convenient
  • Disliked — Could be a little noisy at night with the live music/ also didn't like the parking garage.

Stayed here on January 31st with a party of four. We paid $350 for one night after all the taxes and were put in an ocean view room on the top floor (19th). The room was clean, but had peeling wall paper and was a bit outdated. The view was awesome. The beach was great. Being right next to shopping and local dining at the beach was excellent as well. Unfortunately, with the difficulty of getting in and out of the hotel and the conditioning of the the room; I would have to suggest that closer to $200 than $300 for the weekend beach view rate would seem more in line.

We are a Marriott Timeshare owner and traded for a week at Beach Place Towers. The rooms are very good and clean. The river view rooms (not oceanfront) are actually the best. They are quieter and have a great view of the city and the intercoastal waterway. The higher up the better. You can sit and watch the yachts go by. The pool chairs fill up quickly especially with families. After about 2 pm the building blocks the sun from the pool so you have to go out to the beach to get sun. There is no restaurant on the premises but lot several in walking distance. The elevators are very slow so be patient. Also the parking is an adventure. Guests park on the levels 4 & 5 of the Beach Place mall parking garage. This means driving around a large circle 4 times to park the car and to get back to the street.
I would recommend the hotel.

We just returned from a 5 night visit to the Beach Place Towers and we were pleasantly suprised after reading the reviews. My husband and myself along with our 5 and 2 year old visited from Jan 12-Jan17th 2008. Our room was located on the 17th floor overlooking the intercoastal water-way. We had a one bedroom suite that was ideal for a few nights vacation. Our room was in great shape and seemed updated. The beds were comfortable and the room was nicely appointed.

The parking garage is a bit annoying. I just takes a long time and a lot of winding to get to the Mariott's section. But a litte patience will get you a far way. It by no mean spoiled our getaway. The location of the hotel is great for the beach and there are plenty of food choices directly below the hotel. (Not the most upscale of restaurants, but it is hard to complain about it when you are watching the ocean and cruise ships go by). The elevators are small and at some points in the day were really crowded. Once again, a little annoying. But not a deal breaker. It just required patience and a good sense of humor!

The pool is really small and does get blocked by the building in the afternoon. It did not affect us because we were at the beach with our kids and it wasn't all that warm out to sunbathe.

All in all, it was a good hotel for a quick family getaway. It was not a luxurious place, but good for family. I wouldn't recommed this location for romance or honeymoons, but it was a nice place to get away from the snow!

  • Liked — Location and convenience of multiple bedrooms
  • Disliked — parking garage and elevators
