“Very enjoyable stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012

I stayed with three friends for a "ladies getaway" after 3 days in Key West. I traded into this location on the advice of friends who had stayed there, although was a little concerned after reading the reviews. We own several Marriott timeshares in St. Thomas, Hawaii, and Hilton Head. Each had it's own "feel" and Beach Towers is no different. It is in a busy area so the surroundings are different than a typical beach resort. However, the 2 bedroom unit was lovely, updated and very clean. The staff was wonderful from the front desk, guest relations, pool and bar staff and those who hosted the reception and orientation meeting. We had no trouble finding the garage following their printed directions. It is a little confusing after we arrived on a Sunday night and went downstairs for a quick dinner. (The only time we felt the "shopping area" was congested with loud music etc.) However, by the next morning it was easy to get to the beach, pool, lobby or to several restaurants in the area. The longest wait we experienced for an elevator was about 3 minutes! (Although we did check in and out at "off hours".) We stayed on the intercoastal side and think it is probably the best unless perhaps you are in a very high floor on the ocean side. We had breakfast and afternoon wine everyday on the balcony and it was lovely. We walked to several restaurants in the evening and felt very safe. We planned to leave for a day to go to Miami but were enjoying the area so we never moved our car. We used the water taxt one day and it was great. You can see all the homes on the intercoastal and get everywhere. We used it during the day for shopping and then again that night to go to a restaurant--one price for all day. If you realize that this is not a huge resort on acres of land but rather a downtown location and you are aware a time share is not a hotel with daily maid service etc.then I feel it provides for a wonderful vacation. We had no complaints about any aspect of the Beach Towers and would return.

I just got back from the Beachplace towers and was very suprised at the location and the quality of the facility. It is a tower of apartments and rooms set off the road, in a small shopping center. The shopping center appeared to me to be somewhat seedy with bars, cheap restaurants, and Hooters attached to it. The rooms are very large, in great condition and very accomodating. The staff was very congenial, and helpful.

The probelme with the place, and I would not go back, is that it is not like any other Marriott Vacation Vlub in that the location leaves a lot to be desired. Because of the location on fort Lauderdale Blvd, and the surrounding area which caters more to the college spring break crowd than to families, it is not really safe for teens to go out alone. It is loud as well. Our room faced the ocean, which we requested and it actually over looked a Hooters which was playing loud music untila t least 2 am when I fell asleep. It just did not live up to the other Marriott's that I have stayed at.

Also, no restaurants and no bar besides the pool area. The pool area is totally insufficient for the amount of apartments.

Room Tip: It's a tough one. Facing the ocean is facing the Boulevard and that is noisy.

The privilege was mine to share in a week long stay at this resort. With an 18th floor ocean view, the morning sunrises were phenomenal. Truly, I'd never seen the dawning of day like that through sober eyes. The location was perfect - within walking distance to great entertainment as well as the beach (directly across the street). While I didn't dwell much in the apartment, primarily because I spent most of day away from it discovering Ft. Lauderdale, it provided the basics of what's needed when one is vacationing - a comfortable sleeping area, a functioning bathroom & a working television. Being a very resourceful person, I had very little need for the staff; however, they were friendly & helpful when needed. What was most frustrating was determining how to enter upon arrival. The taxi circled the block several times & eventually let us out on the corner. Not cute, at all. There is a need for better signage that let's guest know that YOU ARE HERE & instructs how to enter the property.

Exchanged my wonderful place at sabal palms for this. Was given a dinky room. Front desk unable to give upgrades. Call the 1-800 number . Really? 14$ a day to park. Slow as molasses elevator. The view if you look straight out is great, look down and gaze at the rooftop of hooters, loud roof fans and the ever present smell of fries and wings. 14 floors to get ice everyday. No beach service. The chairs and umbrellas provided are laughable. Dinky rusty , go to CVS and get your own Microwave and toaster didn't work the last 2 days, didn't call about it because I was so ready to get out of the tiny fre-breezed room everyday. Let's just say as I sat on the balcony, I coveted the Ritz Carlton next door. Ya get what ya pay for. Not!

Pros:
Across the street to the beach
Great restaurants right below the Marriott and within walking distance
Close to airport

Cons:
Not your typical “Marriott Vacations Club” resort (looks like it was converted)
Pool is small
Elevators are horribly slow, so find the stairs on your first day

I would stay here again, mainly since you cant beat the location.

I am platinum elite member of Marriott and unfortunately my trip and stay there was the worst one I ever had. Not only are the elevators a pain in rear especially with a 30-40 minute wait seems to be the norm. People in the front desk area are rude especially a white fat one with glasses who was extremely rude to me and my wife. If that was not enough it seems that the resort hires preverts as security guards. I noticed in more than one ocassion how a young white male security officer how he flirted and made innuendos to my young 16 year old daughter especially in the pool area. Resort is begging for a sexual harassment lawsuit if this practices continue. Tourists and visitors be aware. Poor customer service, crappy location as far finding the place, parking sucks, elevator issues, tv and ac units that do not work all the time....

Room Tip: Choose another location....

Rember that this is not a hotel with all of those services. It is a Marriott Vacation Club Time Share. Its location is Awsome just accross from the beautiful beach. Lots of restaurants on the property or within short walking distance. Never had to move the car for the entire week. Its a great resort in a great location. Be aware that parking in the garage is $14.00 a day. Love it anyway.

Room Tip: Ocean Front
