We had to have our room changed due to the mold & mildew.Several others in our party had the same problems. While the manager was helpful the problem was overwhelming. In one room we looked at, the bed spread had some mildew that went completely through the spread. Everything smelled musty and damp. The state of dilapedation was very evident. Never again. Our agent really blew this one.

This place needs a major makeover. I'm no princess, and realize that there's a limit to what one can expect for $100/night...but cleanliness is a must. This place was just nasty. It felt dirty...it smelled dirty...and it was so dank and damp that dehumidifiers are standard in every room. Housekeeping was atrocious. The only way we could tell that they'd even serviced the room was that the bedcovers were thrown back up. It's as if a team of 14-year-old boys were on staff, and committed to cleaning the rooms to same standards as they kept theirs at home. Furniture, fixtures, draperies and bedding are all in need of replacement, and the towels were some of the skimpiest and thinnest I've ever seen. I expect a little more from a Holiday Inn.

Our hearts sank when we arrived. The Holiday Inn was in a rundown area of Lauderdale By The Sea right on the main road. The staff were very friendly but the building was very dilapidated and past its best, should be knocked down and rebuilt. The whole place was shabby including the rooms although they were clean. The outside corridors were dismal and depressing. The pool area was not clean and not at all inviting. The Dennys restaurant which was part of the site was a typical Dennys - enough said!

The website gave the impression that the hotel was on the beach but in fact there was a road and another row of buildings in between. However it was only a short walk and the beach was fine. Walking north along the beach we discoverd a nice little area with a continental feel and several pleasant restaurants.

All in all the staff did the best they could with what they had.

We were pleased with the "little"touches that mean a lot to travelers.Mini fridge,iron,coffee pot with REAL coffee,china cups and plates. Room was quiet and had great darkening shades for those bright morning when you want to sleep in. The housekeeping gals took very good care of us and kept us supplied with clean towels and all the little soaps and lotions and shampoo that make the end of the day so nice to come back to your room.
Would we stay there again, YES INDEED
