This trip was with my 4 children and I. I booked too late and was unable to get the place we stayed at last year and this place was the only place in town with rooms. I noticed the reviews were poor but I thought well heck we will only sleep there so why not. We would be spending our days on the beach. Little did I know that the beach meant walking through the lobby of the Ocean Manor resort across A1A and pretending that we were staying there. Very uncomfortable. This is called your public access to the beach if you stay at this place. The rooms were just ok. Sand bugs or something on the counters. The fridge iced over so much that you could not keep anything in it for very long. We opted for no maid service, with the kids I didn't want to do that to the poor maid staff and that would mean I would have had to spend my mornings cleaning before the cleaning lady got there LOL. Asking for more towels everyday was like pulling teeth. There were 5 of us, I wanted 5 towells a day. "Come back later, there are no towels yet", "5? why 5?" Um because there are 5 of us? Terrible!! Just to avoid it I found myself washing used towels every day. Actually the best part of this place is that their dryer is awesome. Well worth the $1.00 it costs. The pool was dirty, and had hair dye gloves floating in it, and you couldn't see the bottom. The free breakfast they talk about is frozen danish, cereal, warm milk and juice if you get there early enough. I thought the spots on my legs were from the sun, but after reading the other reviews, maybe they were bed bugs. The landscaping left much to be desired. All in all it was a bad experience, and I would not EVER recommend this place. It doesn't even deserve the 1 star I gave it.

I prepaid at priceline.com for a two night stay before having seen the hotel. The hotel is run-down and dirty. My room had been freshly vacummed, but the walls, thresholds, and baseboards were absolutely filthy, like they haven't been cleaned in years. The duvet covers smelled bad.

There was not adequate parking, so the night attendant made me park in the driveway, blocking two other cars. I spent the night wondering if I was going to get a knock at the door at 4 am to move my car.

The rooms have metal doors which bang all night long. This is a truly awful hotel and I had a terrible night there. In the morning I called priceline to complain and was able to move out without paying for the second night. The Travelodge got the last laugh, though... during the night I was attacked by bedbugs. My back and shoulders are now covered with itchy little bug bites.

I don't have particularly high standards. I've stayed in a lot of cheap hotel rooms, and all I look for in a budget hotel is a simple, clean, and reasonably quiet room. This hotel misses on every count. Truly, it's the worst hotel room I've had in 20 years. You'd be better off sleeping in your car than at the Fort Lauderdale Beach Travelodge.

  • Liked — that when I left early, I was able to get a refund for the second night
  • Disliked — the bedbugs and overall filthiness of the hotel room

Got a decent rate for 2 nights at this hotel. First impressions of room were very good. Good size, fresh smell, clean bathroom, lots of storage space, fridge, microwave, coffee maker etc. Beds were comfy and pool was clean. Staff also friendly. We decided to stay an extra couple nights and got the same good rate.
Housekeeping needs a lot of attention. Half job only done, floor never hoovered, only one of the two beds made, not enough towels (maid looked like I asked for her first born when I requested more towels), never given more toiletries, toilet paper etc. By our second last day I wouldnt get in the pool, it was filty with dead insects and cigerette wrappers.
Complimentary breakfast which was ample but only bothered one morning of the four. There is a supermarket and McDonald and a few other places just across the road which was handy.
The worse thing about our stay was the location of our room beside the Landry room and we were woken up EVERY morning by the maids SCREAMING at each other and it went for for a hour or so.
Also when we went to check out the man behind the desk was so rude, basically called us liers, saying that we hadn't paid for the last two nights of our stay and we had to pay again. Even though he had two receipts in front of him. One for the first two night and then for the second two night. He just couldn't seem to get his head around the whole thing and it took 25minutes for him to understand which had us late for checking in for our flight.

I read in someone else review that they were bitten by bed mites, I also experienced a lot of bites that only started when I arrived at this hotel and the first one while i was sitting on the bed. Whether they were bites from the bed bugs or not I dont know.

I had to stay in this hotel for one night in April 2006.

The staff was not helpful or friendly. There is no public access to the beach unless you visit the Tiki bar across the street.

The room was average size but the floor was not clean and had not been vacumed. The beds were old and uncomfortable. The bathroom had no soap, lotion or shampoo. Also, the shower leaked onto the floor while I was using it. I stayed one night at this hotel because another hotel had messed up my reservation and there were no vacancies at the better hotels. Its okay to stay here if you can't find anywhere else better, as was my case. I would not recommend this hotel otherwise.

You get what you pay for. The place is relatively old and is a 2 star like rated. Its clean and was quiet when we were there for one night. The pool is ok and the landscaping does a good job of separating you from highway 1 which is just out the door. Not that quick a walk to the beach...at least not public access. You can go to the ocean manor across the street and sit at their tiki bar and use their beach (you just have to pretend you're staying there). The staff at the travelodge is NOT friendly or helpful. All in all, it's not that bad. Don't pay too much. If a higher star close or on the beach is available for less then $50/night more, take it.
