“Awesome atmosphere and great staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

Booked here not totally knowing how it might compare to all male guest houses like Key West.
This complex is awesome with the three pools and 2 hot tubs. The staff were all excellent. Check-in was a breeze and really made you feel welcome. Gave us a mini tour of the facilities and then took us to our room. The room was spacious, beds extremely comfortable, and nice flat screen TV. Easy to meet other guests or keep to yourself if you so desire. Close to a few bars and restaurants but it helps to have a car or take a taxi. You need a car or taxi to go to the gay bars. The only negative was the breakfast offerings. Wish it were a little fresher other than packaged muffins and danishes. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and look forward to the next visit! Already talked to a few friends and we are trying to plan a group trip sometime in the near future!

Room Tip: Stayed in room 122 which was very nice and would book this room again on future trips..

The location brought us to The Worthington, very close to the beach. The other guests, and attentive staff will bring us back. We made new friends everyday. Everyone was friendly, and even late at night there were plenty of guys having fun at the pool/hot tub. Saturday happy hour was alot of fun too. We are looking forward to our next visit already. Our second floor room overlooking the pool was very clean, and comfortable. Last but not least, thanks for the recommendation to the steakhouse in W Hotel. It was incredible.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

My friend and I had a two night short mid-week stay over, organised at relatively late notice. Our rooms were in great condition and the pool area by the Worthington was enjoyable from early morning through to the wee late hours. The crowd was cruisy without being in your face and a few day visitors attracted additional interest.

The service was great, with good recommendations to restaurants, facilities to do washing and drying, a small, but functional and modern gym. Whilst one hot tub was under renovation, this drew people together in the main hot tub in the evenings. The beds that we slept in (when we finally slept) were the best beds slept in any hotel / resort for years.

We will be back. Thank you.

Its rare that I find a place via Tripadvisor and then find that it doesn't quite measure up to the reviews that I have read...I guess I should take more notice of how many previous reviews each reviewer has made. I found the Worthington to be very tired in its appearance and that having three separate pool areas tended to separate guests rather than bring them together. The rooms are kept very clean, which I guess is part of the reason that they all have tiled flooring, and the bed was comfortable, so for that part I was more than satisfied. The provided breakfast was very limited and lacked any real effort. The location is handy to the beach, but it is a good 10 minute drive to the main bars and clubs of Wilton Manors. We did not find any gay bars within walking distance of the guest house.

The gay resorts that we stayed at in Palm Springs and Key West were far superior to the Worthington.

Thank you for your review, I'm happy to hear that your room was clean and comfortable. We pride ourselves in providing comfortable accommodations. I also take personal pride in the appearence and upkeep of all three of my buildings. You stayed in our newest aquistion the Villa Venice room 24, The Villa Venice has undergone a 400,000. renovation less than 2 years ago, the other two building are continually updated, unlike many resorts we put money back into our property to make guests feel comfortable and enjoy our accommodations. The word "Tired" can be subjective from guest to guest. We do preserve the Historic looks of our Mid-Century building and many guests appreciate that. As for our continetal breakfast, it is just that a continental breakfast. We are not a Restaurant. Our website lists of all items that we serve. We are regulated by Broward County Health department as to what we can serve without having a restaurant license. The three pools is a very nice option as each pool has a different ambiance and adds to ones expierience. They are usually all very busy, however you came mid-week in the heat of the summer. I believe most of our reviewers are knowlegable enough to leave a truefull review of their expierience whether they have written 1 review of 56 like you.
Warm regards,
JIM

We had an excellent stay from the moment we first walked into the front gate. I can't say enough about the friendly attentive staff. It seemed they were around every corner with a smile and helping hand. The resort is made up of three properties, all very well maintained and interconnected by walkways in a tropical setting. We stayed on a Saturday and enjoyed a complimentary happy hour by the pool with other guests - great way to meet new friends. All three pools and two hot tubs were crystal clear. You are surrounded by palm trees and lush tropical foliage so privacy is not an issue. What more could you ask for? We have already booked our next weekend getaway!

Room Tip: Each property has rooms just steps away from the pools but we liked a second floor room at the Worth...

I was hesitant about traveling alone for a beach vacation. I don't know what I was worried about. The staff was top notch. They made everyone feel welcome. And the guests were all great! From the moment I set foot onto the property, everyone was welcoming. Had a great time hanging out at the pools and spending evenings in the hot tub with other guests. Everyone seems to bond into a pretty great group. No one was excluded.

This is the place to go! The rooms were spacious, and the staff friendly and professional. There was an endless supply of towels. They even have a video library for you to use while you stay there. Awesome! I didn't want to leave. I'll be back soon.

We have visited many gay resorts in the USA; including Palm Springs. The Worthington/Alcazar is by far the best for the following reasons:

1. Friendly staff available around the clock to assist a guest during their stay
2. Clean rooms, pools and meeting areas
3. Great location to the Fort Lauderdale beaches

We recommend a visit. Jim the owner is the BEST!

Room Tip: All of the rooms meet or exceed a guests expectations
