“2 day stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013 via mobile

This place came highly recommended by a friend and it certainly lived up to its reputation. Not only was it only a 2 block walk to the beach but the customer was incredible. The rooms were very clean and neat. The pool and grounds were beautiful and everyone was very friendly. Would definitely come back and even stay longer.

A really GREAT gay place to stay. Friendly staff and the rooms and grounds were impeccably clean. The value for the money is outstanding. Location is close to the beach for people-watching and dining out at many of Ft. Lauderdale's best resturants. Just the place to meet interesting and friendly men from all over North America. You will really enjoy your visit to one of the best vacation destinations in the USA. Fun Time!

Just finished a four night stay (7/8/13 to 7/11/13) with my partner at The Worthington Relative to other gay and gay friendly guest houses like The Schubert in Ft. Lauderdale and Island House, New Orleans House, and La-Te-Da in Key West, The Worthington compares very favorably.

The location is great. It is walking distance to the beach and just a short drive or cab ride to nightlife and shopping in Ft. Lauderdale and Wilton Manors. The property was kept reasonably clean and the rooms, although a little dated, were clean and comfortable. The complimentary continental breakfast was a nice touch.

But one of the really nice things about The Worthington is that it is part of a three property complex that includes Alcazar and Villa Venice and even during a quiet period during mid week there were plenty of other guests to socialize with; many of the guys staying there rarely left the property as just about everybody there was very nice and sociable. One of the things that can really make or break a stay at a gay guest house like this is the quality of the guys staying there and whether they're the type of guys you feel comfortable hanging out with. The guys during our stay were mostly professionals from the U.S. in their mid 30s to early 50s although there were younger and older guys as well as some international travelers. Many of the guys were repeat guests who had stayed at one of the three properties in the past and a number of them knew each other from previous visits; but as a first time visitor I felt welcomed right away.

The property is clothing optional but during our stay most of the guys kept their swimsuits on during the day. However, several guys chose to to go nude. At night about half the guys kept their swimsuits on and half chose not to wear them. So whether you prefer to be nude or not, you're unlikely to find yourself the only one wearing a swimsuit or not.

The place can be a bit cruisy, especially at night. It probably isn't an issue for most guys that stay at a gay, clothing optional guest house (some might find it a plus) but worth mentioning for those that might find it uncomfortable. I didn't notice it during the day but did late at night/early morning.

Overall, The Worthington ranks up along with Island House as my favorite gay guest house. I plan on going back!

This resort is great especially now that there are 3 venues all in one and there is easy mobility from one to the other (Worthington, Alcazar, Villa Venice). The Worthington section seems to be the main "gathering" spot for folks and if you are disturbed by louder voices throughout the night (people still enjoyng a party atmosphere), get a room on the Alzacar or Villa Venice area. I had a room in the Worthington section and I could hear voices til 4 a.m. Those I talked to in the other 2 sections said that it was very quiet. After the weekend it was OK.
The staff is great (awesome is a better word!) and they try to accomodate as much as they can. The 4th of July barbeque was very good! I wish we could have frozen drinks every afternoon!!
You won't regret coming here!

If you want to get away and be accommodated at your fingertips please come here. I will recommend this place to everyone that is going to Fort Lauderdale. This resort has 3 pools (clothing optional) and 2 Jacuzzis. The grounds as well as the pools are very well maintained. These people do take pride in their work. From day one at check in to Peter cleaning my room both did a great job, so if someone is looking for a resort this is the one. The staff was very superb as in helping us with everything from day one. We could not find our room and they were there to help as well as provide clean towels for ether the beach or around the pool. They had a great guy that worked at night and he checked on us even at 3 am.

The rooms are very nice, clean as well as the gardens. I do feel that they do keep it up and as some other places I have stayed at in the past. The location was also great as well as having breakfast by the pool. I cant say thank you enough to the staff as well as the people that I have got to know in a short amount of time.

Room Tip: The third floor is your best option facing away from the pool

I have stayed at several of the resorts in Ft L Over the years althought amenities at other places are better the guest that come here make this place. The resort is three small hotels that are ajoined with beautiful landscaping. The rooms are not posh but simply decorated and very clean. The front dest staff were kurt but not very welcoming maybe should be replaced by some one who dosnt mind working with the public or at least can fake it. Upon my arivial i rang the bell to be let in it rang the phone sever times then went to voice mail I did this three times for aprox 10 min rang the door bell also a few times after no answer I called the number on the door as a last resort the person that answered was not happy with me for calling him possibly the owner? Pretty much told me sternly that some one was there and acted like I was incompitent for calling him after waiting outside his gate for almost 15 min with my bags. Fix your door bell and get a cordless phone for the front door staff if they leave the office. Dont yell at your guest this was my 3rd visit here never had this prob befor get it right you JERK. Like I said the guest make this resort not the staff.

Greg and I go here at least once a year around the 4th of July. We love it here and now they have 3 properties together with pools and a couple hot tubs. You can easily socialize with other guest if you would like or one of the pools is usually not very busy if you want to be alone. The beach is only a short walk and Wilton Manor is a cheap cab ride. The owners and staff here are Great! They will make sure you have anything you need and make you feel welcome.

Room Tip: 320 is my favorite, although you have to go up two sets of stairs, it is basically by it's self...
