Colorful and clean! I wanted to book something cheap and clean for our 2 nights stay in Fort Lauderdale, and I'm glad I checked tripadvisor. The location was great, it was clean, had a nice old style feel to it, and the owners were really friendly.

I was somewhat afraid to book my stay at the Tropi Rock due to a few not so favorable reviews. I was lucky enough to have a friend that lives in Ft. Lauderdale check it out for me first.
She said it was clean and had a certain charm. She was 100% correct (as usual!) The location couldn't be better! Steps away from the beach. The owners, Mick & patti were very nice and helpful.
They care very much about their property as they live there.
I can't imagine why anyone would give this a bad review unless they were expecting a hotel with room service. I would stay there again and would suggest it to anyone who wants a nice, low key vacation.
It's a wonderful value for the money.
Thanks for making my week in Ft. Laudredale so nice, Mick.
Hugs to Oliver!!!!
What a great time & great place ! Old Florida and the wonderful family owned places are becoming extinct faster than critters are listed on the endangered list . We were refered here by friends and went for a long birthday weekend . The rooms were immaculate & cutely decorated , the staff ie. owners treated us like family & you can't beat the price . We highly reccommend & will be back .
Hi,
We spent 6 days at the Tropi Rock in Fort Lauderdale and we really appreciated it.
The owners and their kids live in the hotel so the atmosphere is pleasant.
Pros:
-Athmosphere is friendly
-Price
-Pool
-Two computers available
-Wireless
-2 mins from beach
-Free parking
-Free coffee
-Resort closed at night so you only enter the site if you have the door code.
Cons:
-Noisy A/C
-Bathroom a little old
Considering all this it's a very good place to stay and I recommend it to all!
My wife and I [who are lifetime Floridians] were looking for somewhere to go in state this year that we had not been to and ended up choosing Fort Lauderdale after some internet research. I also came across Tropi Rock after reading comments on Trip Advisor. We have had success using this resource with our trips to Europe.
Tropi Rock is a fun place to stay. You go to a hotel like this with a sense of adventure and maybe Florida nostalgia. Our room including the bathroom was very clean. The king size bed was very comfortable .......the all day coffee, newspaper, computer access, waterfall, pool....great tropical plants. eclectic art scattered about....it is a different and interesting place to stay. One night we were up late drinking wine by the pool and found a hidden area in the back corner of the property with a table and lights where we could play cards...
You are 2-3 minutes from the beach when you walk out the front door and turn right. You are 10 minutes from the water taxi stop if you turn left and walk south to Seville and right to the water. The pick up times are on the post. The taxi is $11 all day until midnight. It takes you up and down the river and to the river front area [we highly recomment Briny's Irish restaurant on the riverfront.....great food and live entertainment] We also had dinner one evening at a bar b que restaurant that has been there for over 50 years. Everything was prepared very good and it wasn't typical [although I like it] southern bar b que. I don't remember the name although I left a menu with Mick.
I think Mick was amused by my wife and I. We didn't sit around much. We would do stuff during the day and rest up for a bit then go out until late at night . We had fun chatting with Mick the next morning while shaking the cobwebs out with a cup of coffee.
Mick's wife was out of town and we didn't have the pleasure of meeting her. My wife and I felt very welcomed and with a choice of many places to stay we will return to Tropi Rock
