The hotel is quite non-standard if compared to all other locations close by. The colorful painting, the decoration of the rooms, very inviting. The outside area, above all the pool would require some upgrade. The same applies to the room's bathroom. The hotel provides some extras, potentially useful to some customers, e.g. 2 tennis courts, table tennis, shuffle board, barbecue equipment, free internet terminals to name a few. However, everything strictly closes already at 9pm. Too early for my taste. Mike, the hotel owner was the most friendly and helpful receptionist since very long. His wife, Patty is unfortunately less customer orientated.
Would recommend the hotel, especially to those, benefiting from the extras and/or those not being too sensitive to pool and bathroom modernity.

An amazing hotel! I don't know where to begin. Location is great, you can walk to the beach and also restaurants. Surroundings are gorgeous. Grounds are a series of outdoor rooms - lush, tropical foliage. Pool is surrounded by this foliage which gives it great ambiance...as opposed to every other pool at FL hotels which sit baking in the glaring sun in a sea of concrete. We loved our efficiency and had fun having hors-d'oeuvres and drinks on the balcony of our room. Other guests were nice. Mick and his wife, Patti, are phenomenally nice. I felt like a guest in someone's home. Their dog, Oliver, and sons are cute as buttons too. I will stay here each time I am in Ft. Lauderdale and am already looking forward to our next visit. What a great value! I would also like to add I have stayed in the Marriott and other large chains...what a refreshing difference this was!

This is by far the worse place I ever booked, website looks great
hotel looks dark dingy musty, pool looked liked it hadn't been cleaned in a year. So much overgrowth of landscape virtually no sun.

I booked 2 rooms one was suppose to be king bed, it wasn't.
Had a hard time connecting to wireless. As I am at the front desk
trying to get connected to wireless a couple walked in without reservations wanted to stay 4 nights I was there for 6 nights
asked if they could get a room. Mick the owner told them they could have a king bed room, I almost fainted.

he didn't have one for me, my rooms were attached and I was wiling to get a room that wouldn't be attached and his answer was he already promised them.

Now here's a couple with no reservation and they can get a room with a king bed for 4 nights. That was it one hour after I checked in I checked out. Minus $210.00 that they charged me for cancelling.

I walked across the street to the Napoli Belmar checked in and am thrilled with the hotel and my king bed. Do yourself a favor go to the Napoli Belmar, Tropi Rock FORGET IT !!!!

This hotel was a great find. It's a nice small place, only ~2 blocks to the beach, and close to the Bonnet House and Hugh Taylor Birch State Park (visit both and watch the wildlife!) Parts of the hotel looked old and worn, but still clean. The pool area was cute and well decorated.

  • Liked — Location and Price
  • Disliked — The bathroom sink faucet was tiny - it stuck out only about a 1/2" from the back of the sink

I mostly want to agree with the reviews already here. You get far more than you pay for at Tropi Rock, thanks to Mick, his dear family, and their genuine care. My seventeen-month-old son and I simply loved it here. My husband is a harder sell, preferring pricier hotel chains such as the Hyatt, but even he was charmed by Mick's warmth and humor. Tropi Rock is unique and charming, and somehow manages to attract similar people - everyone I met was extremely nice and friendly - easy people to run into each morning enjoying Mick's delicious coffee (and I'm very picky about my coffee) around the pool. We did not book an efficiency (though Mick certainly would have accomodated us if we had said something) - but I think it adds to your trip to have the efficiency. If you don't, you at least still have a fridge and a little table with chairs. It is quiet, comfortable, and clean here. The plants everywhere make it like a tropical oasis in the middle of all the beach hoopla - and all you have to do is step outside for a short walk (very short! - didn't even need the stroller!) to said beach! The rooms have air conditioning, or you can opt for use of your ceiling fan, which is even nicer I think. This place is adorable and a great deal for the very low cost. Enjoy!
