We stayed in this hotel in November 2006.

Good Points:

-Price was great
-Clean Room
-Very Friendly Owner (Mick)
-Short walk to the beach
-Internet room/Laundrey
-Bed was huge!

Bad Points:

-Pool was uninviting. The water didn't look very clean and wasn't high enough. The beach is close anyway, but it would have been nice to have a swim at our hotel.

Overall the hotel was quite nice. It was basic though. I probably would stay here again in the future.

The Tropi-Rock is a three star rating but the owners definitely make up an extra star.

The property is older, as are many of the others around it. Our room was clean and comfortable -- the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner. (Tub is worn looking for sure and the sink needs a new faucet fixture) The bed was very clean and comfortable. I loved that the hotel has tile floors and no carpet! I HATE carpet -- especially in hotel rooms.

The beach is very near -- only a short walk. Internet access is free, although a bit slow (and .25 per printed page seems a bit excessive) Movies for rent is nice touch but they should be free, in my opinion.

The owner and his wife are very friendly and they have very nice boys. Also, Oliver the dog is sweet and cute.

We would stay here again, only becuase everything else is soooo expensive in the area.

The Tropi Rock is not fancy, but the location is phenomenal considering the price you pay for a room. It still is a nice hotel though. VERY good value. It's not the Ritz, but that doesn't matter. Our room was clean. Location was excellent. The owners were extremely helpful and nice. There are many shops, restaurants, bars and beach within walking distance of the hotel. For us, that's important so you don't have to take the car out everytime you want to do something. I am rating this hotel high because of the overall service and value. Of course if you want fancy accomodations, you can find that in Fort Lauderdale. There are plenty of more expensive hotels and resorts, but this is a solid choice if you want to keep your money for food, drink and shopping.

This unique hotel is truly a home away from home. I stayed in an efficiency room with a separate kitchen area. I was able to visit the nearby grocery and save some money on food costs that way. My room was clean, comfortable, and very artistically decorated. I had every comfort I could ask for, and the service at the front desk was phenominal...Having traveled A LOT, I can say that I have never received service anywhere else that matches the Tropi Rock. The hotel is just 3 short blocks to Ft. Lauderdale Beach & a short distance to Beach Place, where shopping and food can be found. There is also a Water Taxi station a few blocks away, which offers transportation to many of Ft. Lauderdale's destinations for just $11pp for an all-day pass.

I recommend the Tropi Rock very highly...it's not luxury, but it's the next best thing. :)
