As you can see, the majority of reviews of the Tropi Rock are very positive. The majority, more often than not, is correct and this is no exception. My family stayed at the Tropi Rock on August 18 and 19, prior to a August 20th cruise, and felt like we were staying at a friends home. Mick and Pattie are the owners and on the days we were there Mick was out of town and Pattie was working very hard. Pattie and the staff made our stay as enjoyable as possible. Pattie would sit up in the evening and welcome conversation about the hotel business and would enjoy chatting about your family and/or hers. She is a doll. We took a room on the first floor and it was very clean. The pool was clean but as with most Southern Florida pools in August the pool water was as warm as bath water. No need for a heater at this time of year. We made use of the "Free" internet service which was adjacent to the office. No member of our family is a tennis player but there are two very nice tennis courts which also are included in the nightly rate. There were scores of movies in the office which can be used in your room as the TV in the room had a VCR's built in. If you choose, you can use the barbque grills. The hotel is two minutes to the beach and Pattie offered the use of Beach chairs and towels. She will offer you directions to anywhere you need to go as she knows the area very well. Her children (ages 19, 12, 11) were visiable most days and were very polite and helpful. Even the family Golden was playful. As I said, It is like home away from home.
The resort is not perfect (A/C was louder than normal and there is no Ice machine) but you get so much for so little. Anyone, like the person from Manteo, NC, who requires far more than a friendly, safe and clean place should stay at a full service resort and pay $200 to $300 a night. When you pay $75 a night with all the extra's this is the place to stay.
Our real disappointment was not meeting Mick. After all the notes we have read about him, we were looking forward to meeting him. We will always stay at the Tropi rock when our travel plans take us to Fort Lauderdale. Why stay anywhere else. Pattie, Dora asked me to say how much she enjoyed you and the conversations you had. :)
