First the good...the owners who run the place could not be nicer, and show concern for their patrons. Now the rest. The place is just OK, and certainly the plethora of 5 star TA reviews are completely unjustified...even suspicious. This place is a typical 50's vintage small Lauderdale hotel that's had some painting, and fixing, but not enough to make it even close to the quaint little undiscovered place you (like us) thought you had found. There is no smoking in the rooms, but everywhere you look there are chairs set outside the room doors with smokers doing their thing. Same thing at all the tables around the overly active pool court. The place is popular with Europeans. The irony is we saw several other nicer, quieter, small 50's hotels nearby that were nearly empty, yet this place was nearly full, driven I think by TA readers like us. The first room we were assigned had such depressing decor we could not stand it. We were moved to another room which was better and somewhat more private; acceptable for the one night we stayed but no more than that. Cleanliness is OK, but our room showed signs of wear and needed painting. The mattress was firm at least, and there is wireless Internet. If you dismiss this review as one unimpressed customer in a sea of positive reviews, you will make the the same mistake we did when we picked this hotel. Enjoy your stay in this crowded tourist trap! Lesson learned: If there are too many too positive reviews, beware, they may not all be real.
