If you are looking for a relaxed and friendly hotel near the beach, then this is it. Dont be put off by the hotels excentricity it is great value for money and mick the owner is extremely approachable and very knowledgeable regarding the local area. We stayed in an efficiency room which was basic but clean with excellent kitchen facilities.
The pool was great, tennis courts were good and during our stay in june were free. BBQ area was well maintained.
Great location approx 10 min walk to the water taxi and short taxi journey to downtown for those of you looking for more nightlife.

Mick, the owner was wonderful. Very helpful with restaurants to go to and how to get there and just a great guy, very friendly! His wife on the other hand, not so nice so I suggest dealing with him for a great experience!.......

The place is very clean and has a lot of character and is a block from the beach! I'd go back!

Just came back from a wonderful stay at the Tropi Rock Resort. It's a very unique place -- definitely not your run-of-the-mill chain hotel. It is not luxurious, but it has clean and spacious rooms, beautiful pool and grounds, all-day coffee near the pool, free use of computer and Internet, and VERY friendly and helpful service. It is conveniently located -- just a 5-minute walk to the beach and the bus, and a 10-15 minute walk to the water taxi and Beach Place.
Great value -- would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Fort Lauderdale!!!

We just returned from an 8 night stay at the Tropi Rock Resort. We loved it. The kids played tennis, ping pong, learned shuffle board, and swam in the heated pool. We cooked out a few nights on the gas grills and ate in the gardens.
We also loved the location - just 2 blocks from a 1+ mile long public beach.
We were within walking distance of a $5 waterbus ride that took us past all the mansions on the intercostal waterway, and within walking distance of Beach Place - a mall on the beach with music, restaurants and shops.
