We booked this hotel on the basis of reviews we had seen on Trip Advisor (as we always do) and were not disappointed.

The hotel is in a great location, just a couple of minutes walk from the beach front and situated in a quiet street. This was our first trip to Fort Lauderdale, and we found the hotel very easily and there was plenty of parking available outside too.

Our room was spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. The room rate doesn't include any breakfast but there is plenty of free coffee available. The hotel has a nice homely feel, and much more personable than some of the larger chain hotels you would find elsewhere in the city.

The nearest mall is about 15 minutes walk (Galleria) which was great for shopping, and also houses a fantastic restaurant - 52 Seasons which I highly recommend. Its also close to the main freeways, so easy to drive to Miami or out to some of the larger malls like Sawgrass Mills which has every shop you could want!

We will definitely return to this hotel when we come back for our next shopping trip.

After doing months of research and checking TripAdvisor I decided to call and book the TropiRock and I'm very glad I did. From the very first time I spoke to Mick (the owner) on the phone I knew I made the correct choice! This is not a luxury hotel or resort and it doesn't claim to be...check out their website...what you see is EXACTLY what you get! I emailed Mick a couple times before arriving at his fine establishment with numerous questions and he was personable and prompt with any and all responses...what a SUPER guy! From the time we checked in (we spent 4 nights in a compact efficiency) until the time we checked out we could not have been more pleased! The rate was fantastic ($80 per night plus tax), parking was free, room was spotlessly CLEAN, beach was close (3 minute walk), pool was nice and grounds were in perfect condition. The bathroom was something right out of the 1970's and the furniture in the kitchenette/bedroom area resembled the 1980's BUT we knew that from reading other reviews and looking at the website. We felt the location was great. Walked south to Las Olas Blvd. where there are lots of shops and bar/restaurants, walked north to go to Bluefish Cafe (bar/restaurant) and Primanti's (Pittsburgh pizza/sandwich place) and walked right across the street to enjoy the beach! (Let me also say that we enjoy walking so some of these places may have been a bit much to walk to if you don't enjoy walking or are not in good shape) We had a rental car so we drove to a Publix (grocery store) to pick a few groceries and it only took us about 5 minutes max. In closing, we would DEFINATELY stay here again. If you are looking for a high end hotel with room service, spa and expensive restaurant this is NOT the place for you.....you have been forewarned but if you are looking for a very CLEAN "mom and pop" motel, that has a super owner who is NEVER too busy to help out, very inexpensive and wonderful location...book the TropiRock because you won't be disappointed and if you are then you didn't do your research!

We had a wonderful 1 night post-cruise stay at the Tropi Rock Resort. Mick and Patty were very welcoming along with their sons and Oliver, their sweet, Golden Retriever! We arrived before regular check-in time and our room wasn't available yet, but they stored our luggage so we could get out and explore Fort. Lauderdale without having to wait around. We stayed in a Compact Efficiency room with a king size bed and small galley kitchenette. The room was clean, comfortable, quiet and everything worked well. Parking was convenient. Facilities are older but well maintained, with a pool, coin laundry, sunroof, even an elevator for those with limited mobility or just not wanting to carry the bags up the stairs! The location is ideal, just a block or so off the beach. Close enough to walk, but far enough away to not be bothered by all the traffic on the main road. The free Wi-Fi internet access worked well with the code they give you. We had a late flight the next day and they again stored our bags for us until it was time to head for the airport. Mick and Patty were very helpful with suggestions of places to eat and shop. We look forward to coming back and spending more time in the Fort Lauderdale area and we will base ourselves at Tropi Rock Resort! Pam and Steve from Rincon, Puerto Rico.

My family and I just got back from a 5 night stay at the TropiRock hotel and we could not have found a better place for us! It is 1 1/2 blocks away from the beach and about a 10 - 15 minute walk to the main strip with restaurants and shops by Las Olas Blvd. (2 min by car). It is a very clean, quiet, comfortable place with a very unique atomosphere surrounded by lush tropical landscaping. We had a large effeciency on the 2nd floor with two double beds and a bright and sunny kitchen area. The owner, Mick, goes the extra mile and is one of the most friendliest people that you can ever meet. There is great coffee all morning long, daily newspaper, free internet, and free beach chairs and boogie boards to take to the beach. If you are the type of person who enjoys staying at large, commerical hotels with lots of people by the pool area, etc., then this is not the place for you. WIth all that this hotel has to offer, it is one of the BEST values in the Fort Lauderdale area. My family and I will definately be back at the TropiRock on our next trip to Fort Lauderdale!
