My wife and I had read the reviews on Trip Advisor and decided to stay 5/23 and 5/24 at Tropi Rock on our road trip toward the Keys. The rooms were clean, the king size bed was comfortable, air condition and TV worked, can't ask for much more than that for the price. Gardens and pool area were clean and unique. The best part about the place is Mick, friendly, nice and very proud of his establishment. We were involved in an automobile accident the first day and had to cut our trip short and come home. Mick refunded my money for the remaining day (most places would not have done this), thanks Mick.
I found that Tropi Rock to be a great find. The service from the owner was excellent. He is very knowledgeable about sites to see in FT Lauderdale. My room was good. I read all different reports about Tropi Rock. I found it to be great. Our family's stay was 2 weeks without a hitch. It is a place to come back to not only for a get a way but a 2nd honeymoon. Thank you Tropi Rock
We stayed at Tropi Rock from April 13th to the 16th. This hotel has many benefits to it, that everyone has described (location, beach access, pool, plenty of free amenities (liked the free internet access), but my wife couldn't stand the bathroom. I am not a fussy person myself, but the bathroom really was very, very old. The bathtub looked like it was 20 years old, and I think no matter how much they would have tried to clean it, it would still look dirty. The room was fine, but also quite old looking. It was like a Motel 6 as far as the age of the room, but the bathroom was worse then any hotel I have ever stayed in (probably having stayed in over 100 hotels in North America and Europe). My wife wouldn’t even bathe the children in the bathtub. Again, great amenities and if you aren't picky about a clean bathroom or a run-down room, this place is fine. But, if you are with someone who isn't comfortable in a not-so-clean place, this is NOT the place to stay. This place is way over rated, and based on the reviews it got, I am thinking that I won't use Trip Advisor too much anymore, if this is how it rates hotels! I would have much rather stayed in a motel 6, paying half the price, but having a cleaner bathroom.
Despite any of the negative reviews here, Tropi Rock is a wonderful little getaway. We had a great experience during Spring Break. The pool was warm, the free tennis was a blast for all 5 of us, the gym was adequate, we were very close to the beach & shopping, and of course Mick went out of his way to serve us. If you're looking for luxury go spend $200-300/night somewhere else, but if you're looking for a quaint, quiet, relaxing place to stay at a fair price then you'll love the Tropi Rock as much as we did.
