The Tropi Rock Resort was everything we expected. We stayed there for an entire week in November after finding the hotel on this website. I thought everything was exactly as described on the website. The decor was colorful and fun. You can tell they put heart into everything they chose. We have stayed in Fort Lauderdale before, and were discouraged with what you can get for your money until we stayed at the Tropi Rock.
Usually when things are a great price, we tend to be cautious. However, this was not only a great price, but also a great value. If personable service is what you're looking for...you will definitely find it in Mick and his family. I think it's absolutely fine that they call this a resort, since it is the nicest service, and they go above and beyond to help ensure that your stay is relaxing. I challenge those who ridicule the fact that they call themselves a "resort" to look up the definition of resort. Resort = a place to which people go frequently or habitually for rest, pleasure etc. There are several people on here who have stated that they will go back, and that it was a pleasure to stay! We are amazed that after one week we came to care so much about the success of Mick, his family, and the hotel that they spend every waking minute taking care of. They made my husband and I feel like we were first class customers! I have never seen cleaning persons that were as thorough as the staff they have. What more do you need out of a pool then clean water to swim in when you are a block away from an endless ocean? You're not going to get room service, a water slide, and Central Air Conditioning. But you will get excellent service, a clean place to stay, and an air conditioner that keeps your room cool. It seems to me that we are getting a little too spoiled when a window air-conditioner is no longer good enough even though it keeps us cool!

The best thing of all...you know that your money is being spent helping great people run a great business! We will return to this "resort" frequently!

My husband and I went to Florida for our first time in mid-Dec '03.
Although I had done some research on Tropi Rock, I was leary after a very horrible experience in OC, Md (do not stay at Nock Apartments!).
Tropi Rock was everything and more than we had imagined. The gardens are fabulous, its quiet, and romantic. Mick, the owner, is a gem. Every day we pestered him as to where we should eat and what we should do and he always, always gave us great places to go. Even if he was busy he treated us as if we were his favorite customers (he makes everyone feel that way). Some other reviews go into the negatives of the place, and no, this isn't a "luxury" resort. This is a quiet, cozy, very clean, lovely place in which you can easily overlook thin walls or a noisy air conditioner, because its charm just overwhelms you. We are going back with our children in June, we booked the day we left and were very sad to leave. Thanks, Mick, Butch and Donna love you! And Ollie too!!

We can not say enough good things about the Tropi Rock, It is a total enclosed little Tropical Paradise. The pool has many different kinds of palm trees and beautiful plants, it is a very relaxing enviroment. We really enjoy every minute we are at the Tropi Rock, Mick, Patty and family do every thing they can to make you stay wonderful. The kisds love to explore the grounds, they also enjoy tennis, shuffle board and ping pong. We were married pool side at the Tropi Rock in 2000, and have been back about 12 times since, each time is more enjoyable then the last. Always very clean (same cleaning staff each time). A great location and beautiful setting. Can't wait untill the end of january for our next trip to the Tropi Rock!!!

Stayed here in November 2003 and enjoyed it. Small hotel was very comfortable and, as other have said, Mick (the owner) was at the desk all the time and very helpful with directions and sugestions of places to go and things to see. He supplied chairs and towels for the beach.
There are two computers with DSL that were free for guests to use. When we decided to stay longer but rooms were all booked (boat show just finishing up) Mick told us about a hotel around the corner that we enjoyed just as much. If you are looking for a small, friendly place...this is it.

My family stopped by and found the place while staying in ft lauderdale at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66. I found a cheap rate ($119!) on thier own website cheaper than other hotel websites... the only hitch was u had to pay it in full up front. Turned out to be great but anyway, back to the Tropic, I was driving around north of the action on the beach and went in one block to find it. Funky. First off the owner IS a great person. Brought us around showed us a room etc.. It is NOT a resort. It is a motel with artsy bohemian feel to it. The first thing that struck me was hot tiny the pool is. The photo on the website had to have been stretched. I mean, I asked him is there another pool? You could hear the wild antics from the kids across the street in divey motel. The people sitting around the pool looked like they were in shock. I mean for the money not bad and if u are a laid back cat go for it. But for a little more money u can get more bang for your buck. Again, the owner was a sweetheart but some of the clientle were spooky. The place needs a scrub. ps only trust reviews from people who give thier email address anyone else.. who knows.
