We stayed here for 3 nights after a Caribbean cruise. What a contrast! First, the curtains would not close. In order to have darkness at night (sleep time for some people) we had to clip the curtains together. The couple travelling with us had the same problem in their room. The front desk person offered to change our rooms... to similar rooms with exactly the same problem. No solution there. Second, the front desk personnel seemed NOT to care about how this may bother a guest and even that we were a little odd to want darkness at night and NOBODY had brought this "problem" to their attenion previously. Bad attitude in the hospitality business. Third, when we checked out I asked for a receipt, some hard copy to verify our experience so we could complain to Orbitz, the front desk person said, "NO. You booked through the internet and we only share with them." Bad attitude re-appeared. Fourth, the breakfast offered is sweet, sticky and not nourishing, being mainly tang orange juice, coffee and a danish. The beds were comfortable with quality duvets. Housekeeping was adequate. Yes it is near the airport. This hotel fits the category of "any port in a storm".

It was a good hotel, the rooms were clean, the property was clean, everything was great -- except I had the bright idea that I didn't need to have a car. Unfortunately, this is not true in Fort Lauderdale -- especially here. I paid over $30 for a cab to this location from the International Airport (and they did follow the most direct route). Then it took 4 1/2 hours to get back to the airport to pick up a rental car.

However, the property itself was good, and there were relatively few Spring Break tourists. There was a weird odor in the room, as if there was too much fragrance, but it went away when I put on the fan. There was no smoke smell in the room, although there was some odor of smoke in the hallways. I suppose the halls did look a bit run-down, but I felt completely safe here. All the staff were more than helpful, as they were able.

    • Liked — It was easy to get to, at least when I had a rental car.
    • Disliked — Difficult to use public transportation. Too far from restaurants, etc. to walk.

The rooms are big, and the beds are very comfortable, I would recomend this hotel to anyone, especially for the price.

“Borderline acceptable for one night stay”

University Inn

Borderline acceptable for one night stay.
I've posted several online reviews and would like to think that I can be unbiased. The thing is, the hotel provided every amenity that was listed. They were just the lowest possible quality. Brand 'x' coffee Toiletries from what was probably a defunct $0.99 store. The towels (clean?) were tired and worn The room itself had a very worn fee tool. I only felt comfortable walking around in my socks. The mattress on one bed was nothing but lumps and bumps. Black and gray grout on the bathroom floor, but I think it was supposed to be white. Breakfast was all shrink wrapped, which I suppose was more hygienic. Upon checking in, we discovered the air conditioner could not be adjusted (broken knobs) We were to tired to complain or care and just slept in out clothes, on top of the borderline clean comforter. Upon checking out, the clerk was bemoaning the fact that her computer was frozen and just snapped to hand her the key cards (sorry lady, I didn't break your computer!)
Also, for anyone who isn't aware: This property is near the Ft Lauderdale executive airport, it is NOT an executive hotel near the Ft Lauderdale airport. (and, at least on this trip, there were NO executives sited).
We only stayed at this place for one night because we didn't want to bother relatives. Next time, we'll pocket the $120.00 and inconvenience the family!

“Great Value”

My husband and I visited the Executive Airport Inn on Thursday and Friday prior to the Superbowl. We were pleasantly surprised at the condition of the hotel.

Checkin was very swift and they found a room for us even though we arrived just before noon. Our room was large and adequate. The carpet and walls were a bit worn, but nothing to complain about. The complimentary contintental breakfast was terrific. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

This hotel is located very close to a bus stop, so public transportation is available until 8:30 p.m. in the evening. There is a bus that will take you within walking distance of Ft. Lauderdale beach.

Overall we had a nice stay.
