After reading the 12-2012 and earlier comments, it sounded like the motel could be OK, not special, but OK. It wasn't! Although the female owner was friendly, which I appreciated, that cannot make up for the lack of cleanliness and other negative attributes of the motel! (The immediate area, on the same side of the street as the motel, had bldgs. crowded together and looked cheap!) Generally everything about the motel from the linens, tub/shower area, and floors seemed overused and not maintained!
MJOntario describes everything about the place accurately! There were hairs on the floors, wiring tacked to the walls, and a water heater where you’re supposed to hang your clothes! If a fire marshal saw those things, I bet he would have a fit! The bedding looked as if it had not been changed from the previous occupants. Yuck! When I saw sheets hanging over the railings of the bldg., I felt, my suspicions were confirmed. Those sights reminded me of nasty, old, run down tenements from long ago! In general, I found the place depressing and oppressive.
FYI, I arrived around Midnight and to my dismay there wasn't a parking spot available. A police officer told me the parking lots of the stores across from the motel weren't available for overnight parking. He said those who park there are ticketed! There were no apparent residential streets nearby. (By the way, it didn't look safe to walk alone at night either.) With the hope a parking spot would eventually open up, I went to a drugstore, but NO such luck! (This motel is between two other bldgs. with about two car widths between them. Cars were parked in one of the lanes.) I could barely drive the car through the narrow lane to the back of the bldg. After driving around a couple times, I took a chance and parked the car on a very small tilted patch of grass. Fortunately, no one hit it.
I felt the motel owner, who is management, did not respect my privacy as a tenant. For example, after getting to sleep about 4 a.m., later in the morning, I awoke to one knock and suddenly a man was inside! (It probably was the owner’s brother, who helps run the place.) I had previously said I did not need housekeeping. I know someone was in the room other times, too.
Additional negatives: Since I’m allergic to smoke, I wasn’t happy to breathe air from someone lounging and smoking outside my first floor poolside window. In addition, the place is dimly lit; bring a bright light bulb so you can read a map and/or a tour guide. I’m sure you will be able to sense the motel is economizing as much as they can.
Things are incorrectly stated in the description for this motel. Here are two examples: There is NO hot tub, and NO, you canNOT see any water from the motel! Although I was told on the telephone, “… you can from the second floor patio,” well, maybe if you’re 7 feet tall and use binoculars; then you may get a glimpse of something a different shade of what the sky is! By the way, on the patio there were only a few old chairs.
Because I wasn’t satisfied with the environment, I left sooner than planned.
