We stayed at this hotel for one night before our cruise and for three nights following our cruise. Our one night experience was far better than our longer stay. We were given a room in the tower across the street from the main building with an ocean view. That room was clean and was ready for us when we arrived at 11 am. It was a little awkward to get to but not a problem for a short stay when we did not wish to use the pool or beach facilities.
However, our experience after our cruise was far less acceptable. The room was not ready when we arrived late morning and when we returned later in the day, we were given a room on the first floor beside the pool. The carpet was stained and grubby, the sliding glass cupboard doors had come off their tracks and were extremely difficult to move. Despite asking that maintenance fix the problem, nothing was ever done about it. The door into our room needed re-painting and was very stiff to open. On the day after our arrival, our room had not been made up by 4.30 pm when we returned after a day out - we certainly did not feel like valued guests, despite the fact that we were staying for several days.
Overall, we felt that this hotel is capitalizing on its beachside location and overcharges for what it provides. The restaurant prices are outrageous for what is offered and we suspect the hotel does this because many older guests will not want to walk the distance required to reach a wider selection of eating establishments. We are experienced travellers and, in our view, The Yankee Clipper does not deserve the three star rating it enjoys.
On a positive note, however, we found the concierge and bell staff to be excellent and anxious to please - unlike other staff. As well, the beds were comfortable and the bathrooms in both rooms were clean - something we feel particularly strongly about. Despite this, we would definitely advise against staying there - even for one night as it does not come close in giving value for money.

The Yankee clipper has a great view of the beach, and a very nice pool, there is a bridge from the hotel to the beach so you never have to cross the street. There are some very nice restaurants within waking distance and if you like the night life or just some music with your meal you will find them near the hotel as well. Enjoy

We stayed at the Yankee Clipper for 2 nights post-cruise. Experience has taught us that anytime you are staying on the beach, you will overpay to some extent for the quality of the room but we really wanted the proximity to the ocean. We had requested a non-smoking ocean-view room on a higher floor in the main building (beach side but not the building closest to the water). When we arrived at the hotel, we found ourselves booked in a smoking room on the 2nd floor with a view of trees (the ocean was somewhere behind the leaves). I wasn't too happy. We went back to the front desk to complain. The girl behind the desk was extremely polite but informed us that there was nothing she could do as this was the very last room available. She agreed to move us to a higher floor the next day. I was satisfied with this mostly because she was so polite and respectful. Makes such a difference.

The hotel is a busy one but there wasn't much of a wait at the front desk. The room itself was a nice size,clean, with comfortable beds, but the bathrooms in both rooms had a small amount of hair on the floor (I'm picky about this). The parking was reasonable at $12.00 a night for self-parking. The location is very good - within walking distance to shops, restaurants. It was unfortunate that the weather was chilly at this time because we couldn't take advantage of the beach loungers. We also didn't hang around the bar off the beach but it had a good atmosphere. The pool area was great because it was protected from the wind and we were able to get a few rays out there. Overall, a good place for a few nights. I would not want to pay more than the 235.00 USD we paid (with an airline discount) but I would actually stay there again.

We stayed for 7 days and for the most part really enjoyed the stay. We were dissappointed in the room as it was an average room not what we expected for the money we paid and not what was expected for a Sheraton. It was clean and comfortable and the staff was very good. Everything in the hotel is pretty pricey. We went for breakfast at the Bahai Cabana which is across the street and down 1/2 block 5$ for bacon and eggs and if you can get a table you are right on the marina. Breakfast in the Sheraton was $14 and pretty good but! If you want something that the front desk says they don't have ask the concierge as they probably do. The beach was great, nice & clean. One complaint is they take the beach chairs away at 5o'clock and the sun doesn't set till 6:30 or so would have liked a chair to sit on beach later. Nice heated pool down by the beach. During the week was really nice and quiet but the weekend was really busy. I would not go back to this hotel as I thought it was too much money for what you got. $300 a night I thought you should at least get a fridge.
