We were concerned about being allocated this hotel by our cruise agent for a 1 night stay prior to our Celebrity cruise having read the reviews on trip advisor. In the event we arrived early evening in the dark to be allocated a large room in the building 1 back from the beach. The room was clean and very large even by american standards. We eat in the bar and had very fast and friendly service. Had a good nights sleep so no problem there.
Awoke in the morning and was surprised on drawing back the curtains to see that whilst we had a nice sea view we also had significant building works on 2 sides of us and they started working just before 7.30am. We were checking out of the hotel by midday so we had a pleasant few hours on the beach relaxing and whilst the beach chairs are free for hotel guests they do charge $10 for the beach umbrella.

Hotel fine for a 1 night stay prior to cruise but I would not stay there at the moment for longer than that as the building noise is intrusive and will be going on for a few months yet

This is a nice older hotel in an older area. It isn't the fanciest or most luxurious Sheraton I've ever stayed in, but it's nice enough. The beach is nice in that area. It is located in one of the better areas in Fort Lauderdale. The nearby marina is nice and the restaurants are good.

Room was just ok - nothing special, did seem clean which is important. The good thing is that they are located right on the beach and have a wonderful outdoor patio, grill, bar, pool and lounge chairs right on the beach. Unfortunately when I was there the weather was cold and rainy so there was no one out there, but given a bueatiful sunny day.. this would be Heaven. Yes I would stay there again.. we were in room 218 in the main building.. there are 4 buildings. The building closest to the beach is all non-smoking. Our room was an ocean view - Cost was $240 per night.

  • Liked — Patio bar and grill on the beach
  • Disliked — expensive food

I was booked into this hotel at a rate of $259. I chose the property as a Starwood member figuring its part of the Starwood group, how bad could it be? Well it was awful. The first room I was showed was suppose to be an upgraded, beach view room on a "preferred floor". First of all the elevator to go to the rooms was located in a loading dock. Once at the elevators, they took forever to arrive and the bell person helping me with my bags and another employee of the hotel argued over which elevator bank was broken. Once in the room, it was terribly outdated, musty, and had a view of the parking lot. I asked to be moved and was moved to another "preferred' room in the main building overlooking the pool. The room smelled like chemicals. When I asked the front desk for another room they suggested sending housekeeping to "do something about the smell". I declined. Again the room was terribly outdated, carpet torn and dirty, and the bathroom small and dirty. I asked to cancel my reservation and was allowed to after finally speaking with a manager. The common areas are equally awful. The pool is depressing, nothing there, just a pool and cigarette burned seat cushions on the lounge chairs. The hotel restaurant dark and dingy. Don't stay at this hotel if you can possibly help it!

We stayed at the Sheraton Yankee Clipper on January 20, one day before our cruise on the following day. Our travel agent had booked us at a hotel in Hollywood, FL and I read such awful reviews that I set out to make my own reservations. After I booked the Yankee Clipper, I read a lot of bad reviews and became very concerned, as I am a "clean freak". Not to worry! The place was very nice!! We requested a room with an Ocean view and we arrived at 1 pm and our room was ready. It was lovely! All that worry for nothing! I cannot speak for the other buildings, but if you requeat a room in the beach building, you will not be disappointed! We looked out our window and got to watch a lovely wedding right outside on the beach. It was a very pleasant stay! I would recommend it to anyone! I got the Yankee Clipper phone number and called them directly. I told them that I was looking for their absolute best deal. I got the room for $129. I think it pays to call the hotel direct.

  • Liked — On the beach and close to the Port Everglades cruiseport
  • Disliked — No negatives to our stay
