I've stayed at this hotel for 3 or 4 years in a row and will return again. Great location, service, food, pools, and beach. The bed is so comfortable that I sleep better here than at home. There is a little store that sells Starbucks coffee - a great way to start the day. The restaurant serves an excellent breakfast, and the dinners are well-prepared and nicely served. Restaurant and main pool staff are extremely kind and provide excellent service.

We stayed here 3 nights in the end of October. I must say that I found this hotel to be a little expensive to it's age. If you have been to Fort Lauderdale a few times you know that a nice hotel to a fair rate is hard to find in the beach area.

We stayed in the "middle" building so we didn't suffer from the bad rooms in the anex (back building). Self parking across the street was $10/day. I don't know if there is wallet parking.

Check-in was smooth and that was the only time I talked to the staff untill we left. The room was fairley clean we we arrived and keept that way during or stay. The maid did all the common things in the room (bed, towels, bathroom) no vacum etc.

The big pool was under construction but the area look cramped with all the chairs and is nothing special. The pool close to the beach is small. But this area got a bar and grill.

We never eat at the restaurant but I looked at the prices and it was fair. Breakfast buffe $15.

The location is great with a wonderfull beach. We had a nice stay but I think the hotel is to expensive to it's standard. We would return for a better rate.

Tips. Go to Bahia Cabana/Clarion hotel across the street for food or a drink. It's a funky place in true Key West style.

I love to look for unique places to stay, and as a Tiki buff, I was floored when I saw the shape of this hotel. A ship! I loved the decor- very nautical. The staff was pretty friendly, and the hotel location was great. The place is right on the beach, and has the most amazing bar. It's called the Wreck Bar, and it's fantastic! this tiny bar looks like the interior of a shipwreck, with real fish tanks on the walls. It's dimly lit, so the tanks look really cool. But the wildest part is that behind the bar are about 4 or so windows that look right into the hotel pool- underwater! You can sometimes see people swimming in it, but the best is when you see a mermaid swimming. Really! A girl in a mermaid tail (named Marina) swims effortlessly by, looking into the windows- great photo ops! Those shows are only one a week, so you should call to make sure you catch it.

  • Liked — How unique it is!
  • Disliked — The place doesn't look like it's taking full advantage of it's "tiki-ness".
  • Tips/Secrets: — Call and ask about the mermaid appearances!

We stayed here on New Years eve, so it was a busy location. Unfortunately we got stuck with a smoking room and the place stunk from previous smokers. The room was a decent size and clean. The bathroom was nothing special. We did have a powerful A/C and the room chilled down nicely.

They have 2 pools and plenty of towels and comfortable chairs around the pools. The best part is that they have beach chairs with cushions and towels for free out on the beach. There is also a beach side bar for drinks and some sandwiches.

Self parking was only $8 which was reasonable for the area and you had in-and-out privelages.

The place is huge and spread out, so make sure you are in a good part of the hotel depending on your tastes.

We just got back from a nice Florida vacation, and stayed 2 nights at this hotel. Overall a nice experience. Friendly staff. Great restaurant. Had the best Surf 'and Turf. Would have been nice with a balcony in the oceanview room. We had asked for a crib when we checked in. 3 hours later, still no crib. Took two more calls to get the crib, but they did make it up by waiving the valet parking fee.

  • Liked — The restaurant.
  • Disliked — Slow to get serice requested.
