My husband and I (in our early thirties) stayed at the Yankee Clipper on August 5-6, 2005 for a pre night stay before our cruise. It was a $13 taxi ride from the airport. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was. Our room had an ocean view, although it was explained to us that the beautiful view will be blocked in a few months when a condo complex is completed. The beach was literally a one minute walk away. The beach seemed clean and well maintained. We had a few beers and a huge plate of nachos (very good!) at the Shipwreck bar and it seemed to be a fun place to relax. Since we are not big breakfast eaters, we thought $23 for the breakfast buffet was a bit much so we grabbed breakfast from the on site 24 hour deli. The staff was friendly and eager to please. It is within walking distance of a few shops and eating establishments although not very many. You won't find familiar favorites such as Denny's or McDonalds within walking distance. Overall, I would recommend Yankee Clipper to my family and friends. It was just the right place to begin our vacation.

I'm not sure how Sheraton allows their name to continue to be used on this place. I had stayed at this hotel 20 years ago for spring break and decided to give it another shot when some buddies and I went down for a long weekend. Granted we weren't looking for much but when we found the place not looking much different than 20 years ago, it was a bit surprising. The place is not much to look at and the rooms are well below what I would expect at a Sheraton or at a Motel 6. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone looking for something even semi-upscale, you'll be disappointed. It would be good for students and young folks that will be too drunk at night to realize how bad the rooms are.

On the plus side, it is on the beach and the pools were nice. Also the Wreck Bar was rocking day and night.

Stayed 18th thru 22 June 2005.Having read previous reviews booked with mixed feelings, however not disappointed. Checked in at 11.00 am with room immediately availible ( straight off a cruise ship). large beachside room on 1st floor in tower block, very clean and serviced everyday,large bright bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities, 24 hour shop ( diy hotdogs are great). two pool areas one beachside with hot food service and bars. Staff all friendly and helpful.(pity the weather wasn't!)
3 minute walk to nearest Water Taxi stop (next to Fire station).
Nice hotel overall with reasonable room rates.

We stayed in this hotel July 9-13, 2005. It's a decent hotel, but certainly not what you would expect from a Sheraton. You can tell it was a high-volume beachside motel at one point, then they renovated a little and called it a Sheraton. The views from the rooms are great, and the location on the beach is equally fantastic. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Bathrooms leave a little to be desired, very standard and motel-like feel. Two pools are small, often crowded. Beach rentals available for everything including umbrellas and chairs.
