My daughter (age 26) and I (her Mom) went on a Caribbean cruise and stayed at the Sheraton from March 7 - 9, 2005 before we went on our Princess cruise (which we LOVED). We were expecting the hotel to be much, much nicer than it was. The room wasn not very clean, it was the size of a motel room, and had an old musty smell to it and so did the hallway. We requested a view room and did get a corner room with a view.....but all the palm trees were blocking the ocean view.....it was still very pretty. The staff was superb....very friendly and helpful. Couldn't ask for nicer people. The restraunt was almost empty when we went down for dinner. After we finished eating our dinner, I could understand why......the food was not very good and it was EXTREMELY expensive. If the food were real tasty, I would not have minded the price. Their key lime pie was HORRIBLE!! I don't recommend their restaurant. The location of the hotel was GREAT. The river boat was very close to the hotel.....and it was a lot of fun. Restaurants were also close and easy to walk to. I don't think I would stay at this hotel ever again......but it was a great place for my very first visit to Ft. Lauderdale....because it was easy to walk to everything and to become aquainted with the town. Ft. Lauderdale is a GREAT city!!

I just returned from 11 lazy days (May 6-17) of great service, nice and clean accomodations, many on-site amenities and being within walking distance of much - the SYC is a GREAT place to stay and value for the money. Some earlier reviews had me worried about this hotel selection but I am very pleased to report that my selection was wonderful. Taxi fare is reasonable from airport (about 10-15 minutes); no real need for a car unless you are planning on site-seeing and if you do, hotel can get you one quickly; water taxi ($5 all day) or just walking along the ocean wall is nice. Valet can have you a cab in no time. Highly recommend The Sea Watch for a sinful seafood dinner. Be sure to have the cream brullee for dessert! (It's like being in a tree house looking out over the ocean -- what a view!)

Stayed in beach building -- disappointed that "ocean view" was on an angle and that windows don't open, but room was always clean and comfortable. Nice view of the vollyball games. Bathroom is nice size and well stocked with towels, etc. - just wish it had a large make-up mirror below hairdryer! Had the use of a fridge which was great to store goodies from the on-site store. Some things expensive, but you are captive! A microwave in the room would have been a plus. Two nice bars (pool/ocean side) with very attentive and friendly staff. Great pool on 2nd floor -- very quiet and relaxing in early am -- nice secret! Plenty of chairs at both pools -- even chairs and umbrellas to rent on beach. I think the hotel leaves money on the table though by not providing beverage service on the beach. Was unimpressed with on-site main dining - but loved the bar and watching the swimmers.

Be sure to meet Fritz Frank, the consierge. He can guide you ANYWHERE and is a pretty funny guy! All the men that work valet, or as bellmen, the staff of the front desk, ladies that cleaned our room, folks that run the souvenier and food stores, and security guards have great attitudes, are friendly and efficient --what a plus!!

General Manager, James Pancallo, has a lot to be proud of. Nice property right on the beach, professional staff, secure surroundings -- my sister and I are already discussing a return. I can't wait!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Yankee Clipper from May 7th to May 9th. We had a great experience. We checked in at 10am-- hours early-- and the nice woman at the front desk even upgraded us to a room with an ocean view. Our room had super comfy 'Sweet Sleeper' beds and was nicely appointed. The hotel's 24 hour deli was convenient, as was the beachside bar/grill. The staff was also helpful. They gave us information about the water taxi, hailed a cab for us, and held our bags on the last day. Overall, we had a great vacation and enjoyed our stay immensely. I highly recommend the Yankee Clipper and Fort Lauderdale.

We stayed as this location for 1 night post cruise. I was leary because of all the negative reviews. We were pleasantly surprised.
While we did have a short wait for a room, we did end up in an upgraded room in the beachside tower. It does require a walk through the parking lot but once there you will be close to the pool area and the beach.
The room was very large, had an ocean view, bathroom amenities, comp.coffee and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in!
We used the services of the deli and convenience store which were very handy. The pool area is packed with kids but there is a covered lounging area off to one side that is quieter...it faces directly on to the beach. We thought $20 was to soeep for 2 lounge chars and an umbrella so we chose to sit poolside for free.
The concierge desk help was so-so. One fellow was helpful but not very pleasant while the next shift was pleasant but not very helpful...we were looking for places to eat as the hotel resurant looked a little dark and dingy. Recommendations were not very forthcoming.
The front desk was awesome throughtout the checkin process and checkout via TV was quick and easy.
This is not the fanciest Sheraton I have stayed at and is in need of more renos but we found our stay adequate. We'd stay there agin.

This hotel offers a great location on a deep beach with exceptional customer service. They accomodated our request for four rooms on the same floor, and even provided a larger corner room (they are much larger) to accomodate a crib and room for toddlers to play, to make up for having to wait until 5:30 o'clock to check into one of the rooms. The Bellman Dave from Philly was most helpful reserving dinner reservations for our large party and also finding where they had in safe keeping items we inadvertently left behind. The children enjoyed the heated pool that is beach side. It was clean though it had a host of children enjoying the water. The beach cabanas with two lounge rent for $20 a day (towels provided free of charge) - a very fair rate. The 24 hour deli has fair prices for the cereal, milk, yogart that children want for breakfast. The adults enjoyed the breakfast buffet or a muffin and coffee at the pool bar. The hotel is not new but kept up. Rooms were clean; no musty smell. It would be nice if the rooms had a refrigerator and a microwave.
