I stayed here one night after a cruise. Arrived about 9.00am and was able to get my room straight away. Beautiful room (540) in South Tower with view of beach. Staff were terrific and very helpful. Used Priceline US$97 (with taxes & fees) and was more than satisfied.
The Jungle Queen boat ride leaves from across the road and is well worthwhile taking.

Stayed here at both the front and back end of our honeymoon cruise. Noisy hotel with old windows and not the greatest rooms. The lack of elevators is absolutely astounding as is how their stairs are set up! Definitely stay clear of this place if you are looking for quiet, relaxing time. Our room was not ready when it was supposed to be and they were unapologetic and slightly annoyed that we kept checking.

Overall, not a good experience.

Just got back from a 3 night stay at the Sheraton Yankee Clipper in Fort Lauderdale. I was somewhat apprehensive about staying here due to some other reviews I'd read, but it really wasn't all that bad. I booked with Priceline, so of course I didn't know that this would be my hotel until my bid was accepted. For 3 star at about $100.00/night on the beach this was about what I expected. Check in was good. Although I'd booked a standard double room, she gave me a King room with an ocean view without charging us any upgrade fee, although she intially stated it would be $40.00/night additional for an ocean-view room. Our room was literally on the sand. We were in the beachside building. We were looking out the window at people playing volleyball right in front of us. Many a ball rolled right over to our window. The hotel has valet parking for about $19.00/day. There is a parking garage across the street where you can self park for $14.00/day which is what we did. The layout of the place was a little confusing at first. There are 4 separate buildings. There is a skyway from the parkging garage that leads you over the street to the main building by which you can then access your room. Although the hotel is no longer a smoking hotel, the smell remained. The carpets in the hallway could use some cleaning also. This hotel is getting ready to close for renovations though, so it all makes sense I suppose. Plenty of food and shopping are available nearby. All in all, we had a pleasant stay. To be completely honest, we did feel it was a little beneath what we expect from the "Sheraton" name. We might give it one more go after renovations to see the difference. For a short stay on a budget, I would recommend. Don't set you expectations super high though. And one more thing.....although we didn't have the need for it, we understood that if you wanted wireless internet access in your room there was an additional fee? Are you serious? Who does that in 2009? That was disappointing.

Mu husband and I just got back from a brief, but absolutely wonderful stay at the Yankee Clipper. We were supposed to leave Sunday , but the weather was so gorgeous, and we were having a great time, we decided to extend our stay until Monday. The hotel was very accomidating on this and we were able to keep our room the extra nights stay. Everyone at the hotel was friendly, and helpful with whatever we needed. We were served the most wonderful frozen drinks at the outdoor bar by the THREE most wonderful bartenders ever---Jerry, Pat, and Bobby. We especially LOVED Jerry's very funny jokes!! We stayed in the Main building and had an ocean view room. Nothing fancy, but clean. We understand the Yankee Clipper will be closed from June 09 to Jan/Feb 2010. We were excited to hear of the rennovations, but.......very sad for the staff that they will be out of a job, and may not have thier jobs when the renovations are complete. Sheraton should remember------You are only as good as your people are---they can make or break you---so treat them kindly.
We are planning to visit the Yankee Clipper next spring, and hope the changes won't take the charm we came to love away. I hope the Shipwreck Bar stays the same---it is a great little spot---Crystal and Diniro thought so!!!
We would recommend this hotel at this point, but who knows with the changes they making it might change our opinion.

Scheduled renovation in June 2009. If you are planning a stay here before renovations begin, stay in the Beachside building -- it is newer and closer to the beach. The staff was incredibly accommodating (especially the concierge).

This place is old and in need of renovation, particularly the main building which is about 60 years old. The location is great -- walking distance to Las Olas, fishing, and great food along the way (Oasis Cafe, All About Food, Bahia Cabana, Bahia Mar poolside bar). The beachside pool deck, cabanas, and bar were great. The renovation will reduce parking, so don't expect parking rates ($14/day) to decrease once renovations are complete.

This hotel will be the media hub for the Super Bowl in 2010, so I expect it to be back better than ever.
